Activities at Bryn Ivor Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Sophia Reed
Hi, I'm Sophia, the Activities Coordinator at Bryn Ivor Lodge. My top priority is making sure our residents feel happy and cosy in their homes. I'm a super crafty person and love coming up with new and exciting activities for everyone to enjoy. When I'm not busy planning, you can usually spot me outside tending to the garden - especially when the sun is shining!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Bryn Ivor Lodge Care Home

Lunch At The Garden Centre
This week at Bryn Ivor some of our residents took a trip to the local garden centre to pick up some items for our gardens spaces and also to enjoy a spot of lunch.
Supporting residents to enjoy outings, shopping, meals out and other trips is a key aspect of the weekly activities calendar and our wider life enrichment program. Please feel free to drop in to our home to learn more.

Picnic At The Newport Wetlands
What a fantastic picnic we enjoyed this week at the Wetlands at Newport.
Newport Wetlands is a National Nature Reserve with many acres of reed beds and wetlands crossed by easy to navigate paths. A wide range of bird species use the reed beds and mudflats to shelter
Regular visits to local attractions, popping out for coffee, pub lunches, mini-bus trips, picnics and other outings are key parts of our life enrichment program and feature often on our weekly activity calendar.
At Bryn Ivor we support and encourage our residents to continue doing the things they love whilst also making new friends and exploring new adventures.

Visit from George our Dog Competition Winner
We had a pawtastic morning with our adorable furry friends, Mollie and George. These two cuties paid us a visit as George was the winner of our dog photography competition. They spent time with the residents, giving out cuddles and plenty of unexpected licks and tail wags. George was a natural in front of the camera, and we're pretty sure he's going to share his prize with Mollie. Huge thanks to their owners, Sharon and Elfed, for bringing them over!

Trip to Tredegar Park
We enjoyed a beautiful trip to our local nature spot at Tredegar House Park. The stunning 17th-century building set amid extensive gardens is one of the finest examples of a Restoration mansion in Britain, with the oldest parts dating back to the 1670s. We enjoyed a serene walk around the lake, appreciating the crystal-clear water, beautiful water lilies, and magnificent swans. Afterwards, we stopped at the café for a delicious lunch and endless cups of tea!

Drumming Fitness Class
To shake things up here at Bryn Ivor we have re-introduced our Drumming Fitness Class! We rock out to some absolute classic rock songs! This activity is all about feeling the beat and enjoying the music! Our residents loved every minute and cant wait for our next sessions! Rock on!!!!!

Tour De Barchester
We had the incredible opportunity to host the cycling team from Barchester Healthcare as they began their second day for the epic Tour de Barchester challenge. These dedicated cyclists are taking on the ambitious 200-mile journey from Carmarthen to Oxfordshire over the next few days, all in support of Barchester's Charitable Foundation. The morning kicked off with our energetic Kitchen Team preparing a delightful breakfast for the cyclists. Our residents, staff, and guests eagerly gathered outside, ready to give a warm and enthusiastic welcome to these determined cyclists as they arrived at our home. The excitement didn't stop there! We were honoured to be joined by esteemed guests, including Deputy Lord Mayor of Cardiff Helen Lloyd Jones, The Mayor of Newport Raymond Mogford, and Mayoress Mrs. Sallie Mogford. Representatives of Ajuda Project, local classic car enthusiasts, and the adorable kids from the local nursery Marshfield Monkeys also added to the buzz of the event. The cyclists took the time to chat with our residents and guests, spreading joy and inspiration. And to top it all off, everyone indulged in a scrumptious, healthy breakfast prepared by our incredibly talented Head Chef. What a day it was! After breakfast cyclists set off to their next destination, go team!!!
