Activities at Caldy Manor Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators work together to provide daily activities suited to the tastes of residents. We encourage those we support to continue with any hobbies whilst they stay at home. We also hold group activities, such as exercise to music, sing-alongs, craft sessions and visits to local places of interest. There are also evening events, including cheese & wine evenings and race nights. We keep families up-to-date through our newsletter and notices that can be found across the home. Family and friends are always welcome to join in!

Stephanie Boyd

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Steph and I am Lead Activities here at Caldy Manor. As an Activities Coordinator I focus on encouraging our residents to take part in outdoor trips on the mini bus, delivering varied exercise classes and assisting residents with their chosen activities as part of our homes life enrichment plan. It is important that we continue to ensure our residents are connected to their local community.

Going for gold!

Residents and staff at Caldy Manor laced up their trainers and warmed-up for a fun-filled afternoon of games as they took advantage of the glorious sunshine.  Staff and residents showed their friendly competitive streak as they took to their marks in a selection of games, with the main event a game of balloon tennis match between the red and blue teams. After an energetic match, teams celebrated with a glass of Bucks Fizz as they received their certificates.

General Manager Hannah Roberts said: “We always encourage our residents to keep active. With Summer here we had a great opportunity to take advantage of the recent sunny weather and get outside to enjoy our gardens.  Our residents and their guests really enjoyed the day and it was lovely to see so many of them getting involved. It reminded all of us of when we were kids at school!”

Our Divisional Winner

Congratulations to Hannah Roberts, who has been named as a Divisional Winner in the 2020 Barchester Care Awards. Hannah is a finalist in the Customer Service Champion category, and has been invited to attend a virtual awards ceremony on 8th October, where she will find out if she has won overall.

Handmade Cards

Residents of Caldy Manor were delighted to receive a gift of beautiful handmade cards. It’s a great idea and helps residents to keep in contact with family and friends by post at this difficult time when visits can’t happen. Residents can choose their own cards which is really important.

On behalf of Caldy Manor, residents and colleagues would like to pass on their gratitude for being considered at this time of uncertainty and hope everyone stays safe and well.

A Personalised Gift

Resident, Irene, was delighted to receive a special personalised gift from Terra the German Shephard and her owner. Terra was recently announced as winner of the home ‘Cutest Pet’ award, beating the other entrants. Popular Terra also has her very own social media Facebook page and sent Irene a copy of her own calendar as a gift.

Irene was delighted with this personalised gift, as she loves German Shephards and used to have one as a pet.

Community Pen Pals

Local children in the community and sister care homes have been writing to us to share their experience of lockdown. We have been replying to letters and postcards which are now proudly displayed in the lounge for staff and residents to read and enjoy.

Pictured is Edith McKnight who is holding two of her favourite cards received & Andy Petty who has been joining in art & craft sessions in the sunny garden making thank you cards to send.

Happy Birthday Rose

Rose Walsh celebrated her 92nd birthday opening lots of gifts sent in by her family.  A very special video call with her son Robert made the day extra special. We made a special chocolate birthday cake which was thoroughly enjoyed together with Rose's friends at Caldy manor.
