Activities at Canmore Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a variety of events as well as offering tailored programmes to stimulate residents both mentally and physically. There are regular outings in the minibus to local places of interest, such as trips to the beach for ice cream, pub visits for a pint, and regular trips to Dobbies for tea and cakes. Georgie Girl, an old English sheep dog, also stops by the home on regular basis for pet therapy. Musical entertainment is a big hit with residents as well, so we book fan favourites to come and play at the home each month. At Canmore, relatives are always encouraged to join in on the fun too.

Life at Canmore Lodge Care Home

RAF Museum London

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.

Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.

The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.

Outdoor activities

Residents at Canmore Lodge were out enjoying the sunshine, topping up their tans whilst others were getting their hands dirty in our gardening club!

Dobbie’s outing!

Throughout this week, we have been taking some trips to Dobbie’s with our residents, and they have thoroughly enjoyed the weather and the flowers!

Historic Royal Palaces with Jon Sleigh

Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.

Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.

Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes.  It was a truly lovely time for all.

Gardening Club

We love spending time in our garden, it is an environment where our residents and their families can sit, relax and enjoy a variety of exciting gardening activities. With the help of our residents in the gardening club we have been busy planting bulbs in the new raised beds at the front of the home.

Coronation Celebrations

Coronation celebrations. Excitement was in the air as we all celebrated the highly anticipated Coronation of King Charles in style. Our home was beautifully decorated with themed flags, banners and red, white and blue balloons, setting the stage for a grand royal tea party. The whole home came together, along with families, friends and local community members to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering. Our talented chef prepared an assortment of delicious sweet and savoury treats for all to enjoy, accompanied by a glass of fizz.We all had such a brilliant time celebrating the Coronation, such a momentous occasion.
