Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

25 Year Service Award

At Chalfont we have celebrated Rita's 25 Year Long Service Award, attended by residents, staff and family including 3 of Rita’s lovely grandchildren. A fabulous time was had by all and we especially enjoyed the scrumptious chocolate cake baked by our talented Pastry Chef, Kim Keefe. Rita, our Head of Laundry at Chalfont Lodge started at Barchester in June 1999 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Garden Committee

Our garden committee here at Chalfont Lodge have been enjoying the recent sunshine and have relished the opportunity to get out and enjoy the garden. Our new planters have arrived recently and the garden committee have been quick to fill them with bright flowers.

Honey and Bee Talk

Here at Chalfont Lodge we have been very busy bees! We have welcomed a local bee keeper to bring along a hive and complete a talk for our residents. The talk was really insightful and we learnt about different types of bees, their habitat and how they communicate.

Fossil Talk

Here at Chalfont Lodge we have invited Barry back to host another fossil talk with our residents. Barry bought in a range of fossils in to share around the lounge and discuss the history of each item - it was very interesting. Thank you Barry.

Barchester Cook Off

After much deliberation, we are thrilled to announce that the winner of the charity cook-off is Alison Donaldson, Managing Director of the North West and Midlands division! Congratulations, Alison, on your culinary victory. A big thank you to all Managing Directors, judges, and our amazing hospitality team for making this event such a success and for supporting Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

Football Fans!

We have been cheering on our favourite teams throughout the FA Cup tournament this year and the final was no exception. Our home was decked out with flags and our residents gathered to watch the big Manchester derby. The football fans were delighted to be able to watch a lot of this year’s fixtures. We all enjoyed the game and celebrated with a platters of cheese and crackers along with crisps, popcorn and a glass of wine all provide by our talented chef.
