Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home
Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.
Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.
We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.
We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.
We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Life at Chalfont Lodge Care Home
Raising money for the Barchester Charitable Foundation
Care Home Manager, Raj Boodhoo from Chalfont Lodge in Chalfont St Peter will be putting the ‘fun’ into ‘fundraising’ by cycling a unique 100 mile course on traffic free roads that will start and finish in central London to raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation on Sunday 28th May.
Raj Boodhoo is the Care Home Manager for Chalfont Lodge and has worked for Barchester for 5 years. Raj is a dedicated father of three and in this is also a talented musician who enjoys playing the piano in his spare time.
Raj Boohoo said: “Everyone at Chalfont Lodge has been so keen to support me on my adventure, especially the residents who enjoyed helping me plan some of my cycle training route. I chose Barchester’s Charitable Foundation as it is a great cause that helps many people in need, particularly lonely older people, which is a cause very close to the hearts of all our staff and residents, and I’m so proud to be able to support such a great charity. Thank you to everyone who donated so far!”
Barchester’s Charitable Foundation supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities. For more information please visit www.bhcfoundation.org.uk
Performing Pets
What better way to start off Spring then having our very own little fluffy Lamb to come for cuddles!
Lily the Lamb - who is only 6 days old, came to visit the residents at Chalfont Lodge and was spreading the feel of early spring amongst the home. She was very happy having lots of cuddles on everyone's lap and even giving us a Bleat to say Hello! Thank you to Performing Pets for bringing this lovely little lady to see us!
Celebrating 70 Years of Marriage
A couple from Chalfont Lodge have celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Barbara and Norman met in 1951 and they knew it was love at first sight. They met at a dance at Watford Town Hall, while Norman was on leave from the army. They married in 1953 at St Mary’s Church in Rickmansworth when Barbara was 21 and Norman was 22. Norman was a builder and built their first house in Rickmansworth and later built the family house in Chorleywood that they lived in for over 40 years. They have 2 children - Martin and Julie, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Family came to Chalfont Lodge to celebrate the couple’s special anniversary with staff and residents. The home arranged a harpist to play their favourite songs which really touched the couple. Barbara and Norman also received a card from the King and Queen Consort congratulating them on this wonderful milestone.
We spoke to Barbara and Norman and when asked what is the secret to a long lasting marriage they said “You just have to be patient with each other and take some time for yourself too”
A trip to the RAF museum
Chalfont Lodge had a fantastic time visiting the RAF Museum in Edgware, where we got to see three new innovative galleries exploring the first 100 years of the RAF, its roles today, and in the future
We had a brilliant time reminiscing, looking at the war time planes and exploring the Hangars.
Pancake Day
What a delicious day we have had at Chalfont Lodge making our own pancakes!
Residents were treated to freshly made pancakes and a variety of different toppings to make their tasty pudding. To name but a few we had sweet treat sauces, maple syrup and fresh fruit with squirty cream of course!
Valentine's Day
Residents at Chalfont Lodge offered their advice for Valentine’s Day to have the best date/marriage! There were some comical ones, romantic ones and even cheeky ones but these were our top pick!
