Activities at Challoner House Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Challoner House Care Home
Family Games Afternoon
On Saturday we invited all our family and friends along to enjoy an afternoon of gaming fun, Our original plan was to be in the garden playing some games however due to our wonderful British weather we had to make a quick change of plan so we set up some nostalgic board games indoors. The afternoon brought lots of fun and laughter as well as some reminiscing of family Christmases and parties where the games would all come out. Our afternoon was finished off with some delicious homemade cakes and refreshments.
Sunny Singalong
At Challoner House we love a good singalong especially on a sunny afternoon, This month we have been entertained by the lovely talented Debbie Corbett, Debbie came and sang for us some beautiful sunny day sing song which was then finished off with some delicious refreshments.
Word of Wisdom
The residents at Challoner House had great fun coming up with some words of wisdom for the school children returning to school from their summer holidays. Residents had a lovely reminiscence session discussing their school days and how they had to behave and come up with some great quotes for our younger school children in the community.
Creative Craft
The residents at Challoner House had a fun creative afternoon, We made some beautiful paintings of flowers using bubble wrap. The residents said how fun it has been using recycled materials to create some creative paintings. We hold creative afternoons once a week at Challoner House and everyone is welcome to join us as painting is not only good to bring out our creativeness but really good for dexterity.
Super Sunny Scrabble
At Challoner House some of our residents really enjoy a good game of scrabble, We are very lucky to have our giant scrabble boards which we decided to take out on to the courtyard so we can have a lovely sunny game. Scrabble is on our life enrichment program every week as it is one of our most popular games.
Walks in the Community
Every week the activities team take our residents for a lovely walk in our local community, last week it was our lovely Christine that went on a leisurely stroll around our local shops stopping off for a delicious Latte at Waitrose. Christine came back with the biggest smile on her face saying ' I have had such a lovely morning, with the sun shinning, it has been so wonderful'.
