Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home

Christmas Choir

The local choir and orchestra came to perform for us with an array of well-known carols. What a wonderful performance!

,

Christmas Baking

Christmas is upon us, so we decided it was time to make some mince pies — a job which all the residents enjoyed!

Fun-filled Games

The afternoons full of games are always looked forward to. Some of our residents are very competitive and really enjoy these activities.

,

Designated Visiting Pod

We are very happy to announce the arrival of our new designated visitor pod. The visiting pod has been designed with both comfort and safety in mind, it is heated to create a welcoming and warm environment, and has an intercom system fitted, so residents can clearly communicate, and engage in conversation, whilst being able to see their friends and family through a Perspex glass divider, fitted for safety to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Infection control protocols and safe social distancing are in place for every visit, including a hand sanitizer station before entry. Cleaning at Chater Lodge will take place after each visit to ensure chairs, seats, hard surfaces, and the Perspex glass divider are wiped down appropriately.

Halloween Preparations

We are getting ready for Halloween here at Chater Lodge. Our pumpkins will be part of the Ketton Pumpkin Trail.

,

Ready. Aim. Fire!

Our brave staff put on paper boiler suits and let some of our residents shoot them with paint-filled water pistols. Much fun was had by everyone. As you can see, our ladies had an excellent aim!
