Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Maria Durrant
Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019.
My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents.
I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home
Happy Birthday!
We have had a number of birthdays this month at Chater. Staff are always happy for a reason to celebrate with presents and a cake and a good old burst of Happy Birthday to you!
Knit & Natter Passion
We have had new residents join us recently and found our passion for knit and natter, baking and art club again. It’s wonderful to see residents old and new finding their creative side and learning about their hobbies from the past.
Open Day
We held our open day on Jan 18th and had a lovely afternoon being entertained by the always popular Jeremy Hilyard. Our lounge was filled with happy residents singing and dancing.
Christmas Festivities
Lots of fun has been had this Christmas. Our party was wonderful with games and music. We took residents to local school plays and musical performances too.
George the Reindeer
We welcomed George, the Reindeer, back to Chater Lodge who is loved by all. The gentle giant posed for photos with residents and families before visiting rooms to surprise those who weren’t able to come to him.
Arts & Crafts Club
Our arts and crafts club has been very busy and produced some lovely things, including a beautiful poppy display made with bottle ends for Remembrance Da, and a giant Christmas card that will be entered into a competition to win our design printed on cards.
