Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Maria Durrant
Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019.
My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents.
I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Summer Newsletter
Horse Play
We took our first group of residents back to Foxdale Equine Facility recently. It was wonderful to see Tracy Wilson and her team again, and, of course, the gentle giant, Gitana, and Brock the dog.
Sports Day
We attended our local school’s sports day event this year. Well done to all the children at Ketton C of E Primary School; we loved watching you all!
School Trip
We took a trip out to the local school to watch some maypole dancing. The sun was shining and the ladies were made honourary queens for the afternoon.
The Feeding of the Lambs
The Phoenix Children's Foundation brought in some lambs again, and residents enjoyed bottle feeding them. They even went to visit less mobile residents in their rooms.
Live Entertainment
Flossie came to Chater for the first time and performed a wonderful selection of songs and costume changes from musical films throughout history.
