Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home

Toy from Your Childhood

Toy from Your Childhood

We hosted a wonderful reminiscence session with a 'toys from your childhood' theme. Lots of memories were shared amongst the group.

Knit & Natter

Knit & Natter

We have started a 'Knit and Natter', which takes place every. Monday afternoon. The lovely Lyn is assisting the residents in knitting squares for a blanket, which we will eventually donate to a homeless charity. Bet, Doris, Jean and Gunda are getting great at knitting again and even better at nattering!

October Open Day

October Open Day

We hosted our October 20th open day with a country and western hoe down theme. All our staff dressed up and we turned our dining room into a saloon bar for the day. A menu of burgers, cheesy chips and ribs was served, followed by Mississippi mud pie and ice cream. There was lots of wonderful country music, poker and we watched Oklahoma in the afternoon.

Good Eggs

Good Eggs

Our chickens are now almost fully grown and residents have enjoyed watching them grow. It's hard to believe they were eggs in an incubator just 6 months ago.

Pamper Session

Pamper Session

Residents were treated to a lovely relaxed Saturday morning pamper session by a beauty therapist named Leslie.
