Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Our chickens are now living in their outside coop and are free to roam the community garden during the day. Belinda the hen is particularly friendly and always happy to see residents and their loved ones.

The Twilight Games: Round 2

The Twilight Games: Round 2

Chater Lodge residents recently took part in the Twilight Games. This is a new scheme run by Active Rutland to encourage the older generations. Nine residents took part in activities such as chair volleyball, pétanque, chair basketball and beanbag tossing. Later on in the week, Danielle from Active Rutland returned with our medals and certificates.

School Visit

School Visit

We have formed some beautiful friendships with the reception class at Ketton C of E Primary School. They have visited us twice now, sharing drawings and songs. Residents are always thrilled to see their little friends and, going forward, they will be regular visitors to the home and have been given the very important job of naming 2 of our chickens.
