Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Maria Durrant
Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019.
My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents.
I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home
Active Creative
We are very proud to be trialling a new partnership with Active Creative. We are hosting a dance class for toddlers and parents where the residents can join in from their chairs or on their feet, should they wish.
The first session was an absolute joy! The ladies and gentlemen beamed with happiness watching and interacting with the children, and there were plenty of refreshments to go around.
Hairway to Heaven
We would like to welcome new hairdresser, Naomi, to Chater Lodge. She has been an instant hit with residents, who are all now looking beautiful. Just look at our Joan. Thank you, Naomi!
Music for the Soul
Leslie Ann returned to Chater with her upbeat set, which always has everyone off theirs seats and dancing.
Smell Quiz
Activities Coordinator, Ruth, made a fabulous sensory smell quiz for residents on Memory Lane, which was enjoyed by all.
Reindeer Visit
George the reindeer came to visit us at Chater Lodge and was a very welcome sight to start the Christmas festivities. After his meet and greet in the lounge, he visited rooms to the amazement of the less mobile residents.
Feeling Floral
We made some beautiful floral Christmas centrepieces. Diane was amazing and produced some shop-worthy displays, with help from our new Activities Coordinator, Ruth.
