Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home

The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home

Home pay their respects

The Cheshire Grange were sadden to watch events unfold on TV on Thursday 8th September, as the news of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth IIs passing filtered through. The residents were naturally quite shocked especially after the recent Jubilee Celebrations, we spent a lot of time watching the news reels, remembering and sharing stories of the late Queen.

We wrote condolence messages which we hung from our sentiment tree surrounded by photographs of the Her Majesty laughing and smiling, as this was the predominant comment made by the residents about how she enjoyed life.

Beautiful bouquets

Our homes had a fantastic time joining members of the Wallace Collection for an amazing sensory session.

During the live virtual experience, our residents explored one of the museum’s most beautiful Dutch flower paintings and learnt new drawing techniques.

We cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and produce beautiful paintings of our own.

Everyone enjoyed the lovely talk, we all had lots of fun and it’s given us plenty of ideas.

Happy birthday to us

The Cheshire Grange Family were in party mood once again as they celebrated 10 years of the homes opening. Family and friends were invited to join residents for an afternoon of entertainment form Lostock Ukes and enjoy the celebratory buffet on offer. A visit from the ice cream van was a highlight for many residents, enjoying a 99 cone and reminiscing about childhood days. The afternoon was finished off with a giant cake, which everyone still managed to find room for! Here’s to the next 10 years.

Plate presentation

The children at The Cheshire Day Nursery, Guardian St were delighted to receive a visit from Deputy Manager Lizzie, especially the winner of our Jubilee Plate Competition, who was being presented with their prize, a ceramic version of her plate, the nursery also received a Hobbycraft voucher. The residents really enjoyed judging the plates and were amazed by the children’s talent.

Keyboard talent

Margaret enjoyed being given the portable keyboard to explore…. She entertained staff with a rendition of Silent Night, in German, the tune might not have been totally correct, Margaret was delighted to be the mornings entertainment!

Musical mystery tour

Our homes had a brilliant time with curator Sarah Deters as she took us on a virtual ‘Music Through the Ages’ tour of St Cecilia’s Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum.

Our residents were thrilled to discover weird and wonderful musical instruments, hear their unusual sounds, and find out how instruments have changed over the last 500 years.

The virtual live event explored the world-renown collection of musical instruments on display at St Cecilia’s Hall, Scotland’s oldest concert hall.
