Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home

The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home

Ice Cream Deliveries

As temperatures soared on the hottest day of the year what better way to cool down than a tasty ice cream, served to you by an authentic ice cream vendor, well nearly authentic!! Activities Coordinator Jo, donned a striped Jacket and boater hat and loaded the trolley with refreshing drinks, ice lollies, ices cream cones, sauce and sprinkles and went through the home, to residents in their rooms and in communal areas offering the cooling treats. There was many a smile and lots of reminiscing about ice creams along the way, some residents were introduce to ice cream sodas and thoroughly enjoyed them.

Musical Treat from Lymm High School

Cheshire Grange were welcomed some very talented young musicians from Lymm High School , who were playing at the 3 care homes in Lymm as part of their Founders Day Celebrations. Residents on all communities were able to enjoy the performance including some well know classical pieces and some more modern numbers, everyone was commenting on how professional these young people were and how kind they were to take the time to visit, spirits were on a high all day afterwards, we look forward to listening again nearer to Christmas.

Art Masterclass

Over the past few months we have been looking a different artists, looking at their works and learning a little bit about their life. This month to celebrate her birthday we were showcasing the work of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, residents were enthralled by the bright colours and bold style and couldn’t wait to put brush to paper, the result were very impressive. Ladies and gents from all communities were involved and the finished pieces will be saved for our pop up gallery towards the end of the year.

An afternoon at the Opera

Our homes had a fabulous time with the talented soprano Astrid Joos from Street Theatre.  Astrid spoke about a selection of famous operas and our residents were treated to performances of wonderful arias from operas well-known to all, such as ‘Giuditta’, ‘Don Giovanni’ and ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’.

It was a lovely experience, truly enjoyed by all.
