Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home

The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

After originally starting at Cheshire Grange in May 2015, I'm delighted to be back in the role of Activities Coordinator. It is a privilege to be in this role and spend time, getting to know our ladies and gentleman and their loved one, whilst doing all the fun things that can make such a difference to their days.

Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home

Fruit and Fizz Friday!

As part of our Nutrition & Hydration week residents enjoyed a Fruit & Fizz Friday. The sun was shining as some residents enjoyed this treat in the garden. There were lots of smiles as resident’s toasted everyone with a glass of Bucks Fizz. Cheers!!!

Canine crafts

It was all things canine at Cheshire Grange over Crufts week, we talked about family pets, working dogs, did doggie quizzes and word searches, watched Crufts on the TV and our favourite arts and crafts activity of Spoonville created a wonderful menagerie.

Elvis is in the building

Residents and staff welcomed Elvis our therapy dog back, he was as delighted to see everyone as we were to see him… or perhaps it was his cheese treats he was delighted to be getting.

Book corner with Angela Cobbin

We had a lovely time joining Angela Cobbin for a theatre-inspired virtual talk about her book ‘My Name is Not Wigs’.  ‘My Name Is Not Wigs’ is the ultimate read for fans of witty behind-the-curtains memoirs, especially those with a penchant for the bright lights of stage and screen: tears and accolades aplenty!

Angela shared interesting facts with our residents about her book, her life and her experiences as a wig creator in London’s West End in celebration of World Theatre Day.

Politics and Passion at Cliveden

We were treated to an amazing live virtual talk and a tour of Cliveden, hosted by the house and chapel guides from the National Trust Talks Service.

The volunteers kindly gave us a tour around the famous house taking an in-depth look at Cliveden’s many stories from its 350 year history, from devilish dukes to scandalous headlines and boundary-breaking garden designs to political notoriety.

Starting with the Duke of Buckingham who built the first house in 1666, our residents met the key owners who helped shape the house and its gardens including the Orkney, Sutherland and Astor families.

The talk was accompanied by an illustrated presentation which brought to life these individuals and showed how their influence at Cliveden still continues today.

Afternoon of Musical Delights

Cheshire Grange and staff welcomed Deborah of Musical Delights to entertain us with an afternoon of love songs from across the decades. As usual the residents entered the party spirit singing along with well know favourites such as I Want to Hold Your Hand , Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow along with many others there was also enthusiastic chair dancing from the audience.
