Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Martin Tilly-Reed

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park

My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here  to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Glitzy Performance

We love Lesley Ann Vocalist Entertainer and her fabulous daughter Katie Rose joining us for a song and dance at Collingtree Park. We had everyone singing and dancing as we enjoyed songs our residents know and love.

Robert - who knew every line to every song - cried 'happy tears' and said "it's just wonderful to see everyone singing along to these songs, it brings back so many happy memories, thank you for encouraging me to come along today".

Daisy Lane Poppy Display

To celebrate Armistice Day, our Daisy Lane residents created this beautiful selection of poppies for our notice board.

Activities coordinator, Skye, took photos of the residents hands, as they shared their memories of the war, and their family members who fought for our freedom.

Each resident had their own memories to share, but it was a poignant discussion for everyone involved.

Happiest of birthdays to Avis!

Today Avis celebrated her 94th birthday! She said, (through happy tears!) 'I never expected anything like this! What a wonderful day I've had, thank you". Avis helped to slice her cake up to share with other residents over their afternoon tea too, how lovely!

Bonefire Night Sparkles

Celebrating bonfire night with sparklers and smiles! This evening, we enjoyed reliving our childhood with sparklers in the garden, followed by a warm cup of tea and a virtual firework display. Joan said "It's been lovely to spend the evening with everyone in the garden, even better to have a cup of tea!".

Craft Club on Bluebell Walk

In preparation for Bonfire Night, the residents on Bluebell walk were busy this morning creating their own 'Guys'! We had a laugh choosing names; Joany Depp, Lucille, Arabella and Del Boy amongst a few.

Joan said "Celebrating bonfire night is so different nowadays, but it's a good way to share the story of Bonfire night and have a good laugh".

Jean and Jay joined us later on for the discussion and both said how funny the guys were - we think they're too pretty to burn! What do you think?

Vegan Taste Tester

Yesterday evening, our residents enjoyed a vegan taster session, accompanied by a discussion about sustainable living and the environment.

The residents had a selection of vegan food to sample - the biggest shock came as the vegan cheese! Joan said "it's amazing what people can do now, back in the day we just ate what we were given".

Although Shelia and Barbara weren't huge fans of the 'chicken' they agreed that there were health benefits to this, such as it being lower in cholesterol and fats, to which Shelia commented - "but that's what we like about it!"

All in all, the residents enjoyed our sampling session, however I think the majority will be sticking to their more traditional options for now.
