Activities at Corrina Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Sharon Rickman

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Sharon, and I'm part of the activities team here at Corrina Lodge and have worked here for over 20 years. I thoroughly enjoy my job and have achieved an NVQ Level 3 in Activities whilst working here. During my time here, I have met some truly amazing people and I feel privileged to work in a home with such a sense of community.

Life at Corrina Lodge Care Home

It's a Dogs Life

We celebrated our annual dog show this year with an amazing turn out of all different breeds, big, small and everything in between.

The dog show is such an amazing day and provides such a great community spirit with not just the attendees but also for our residents too who get the chance to cuddle and pet all the dogs that visit us.

We had some amazing categories with some very well deserved winners but the prize for the coolest pooch goes to this beauty!

Cultivating Wellbeing

It is so wonderful to see the fruits of our labour and the results of our tender loving care.

We love that our brilliant head chef Kath has been using our home grown mixed lettuce leaves, radishes and spring onions to prepare some delicious fresh salads.

We have recently harvested our tomatoes and our residents are planning are planning to make some autumn chutney.

The Corrina Lodge Community are proud of their garden and certainly enjoy the benefits of this wonderful space and all it has to offer!

Residents Step Into the Wild

It was an absolute pleasure to welcome guest speaker and amazingly talented photographer Lesley, who specialises in photographing wildlife.

Lesley shared some wonderful stories of her adventures and  travels, wowing us with her incredible photographs of elephants, hippos, buffalo and the stories behind them.

We all especially loved the 'Zebra Crossing' photo.

Residents had opportunities to ask questions and enjoyed a very informative and enjoyable afternoon

Celebrating Long Service Award

Corrina Lodge had an absolutely wonderful afternoon celebrating our amazing Care Practitioner, Lucy and Sherry. who between them have dedicated an incredible 35yrs of service to Corrina Lodge.

Their passion and energy is as strong as ever and they are very much loved and appreciated by residents and their fellow team members.

Dumitru our General Manager proudly presented Lucy and Sherry with their long service awards and vouchers and of course some well-deserved fizz and flowers.

Congratulations and thank you to the absolutely wonderful Sherry and Lucy.

Making a Great Impression(ism)...

Our residents here at Corrina Lodge were treated to an afternoon of discovering and learning about the Life of Neoimpressionist artist Georges Seurat.

After the discussion, our residents were given free reign with paint so had a go at 'art'empting the style of pointillism, with some very creative outcomes.

Some of our residents didn't know that they had such creative minds!

Cruising Down the River

We had such a great time on our boat trip to Henley on Thames. The Rivertime Boat Trust  provides an incredible experience for people living with disabilities and additional needs who otherwise may not get an opportunity to enjoy the joys of a boat trip. Brian, Betty, Beryl and Jackie said they had an absolutely wonderful time from beginning to end. It was so lovely to know that the trip had such a positive impact on our residents wellbeing. In Jackie's words 'I wish I could take this feeling home with me'

The benefits of a day out with friends, reminiscing, nature and laughter makes all the difference.

Outings are a key part of life  for our residents living at Corrina Lodge and there are always new adventures to enjoy.
