Activities at Corrina Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Corrina Lodge Care Home

Award Winning Author Visits
Residents had a wonderful morning and welcomed Tina Stubbs award winning children’s author of ‘Life's Little Bugs’ Tina joined us for a fantastic taster session to share the benefits of a Growth Mind-set and how important it is to our wellbeing. Residents had fun taking part in some brain gym exercises, along with meeting all her wonderful characters.
Our activities are always resident led with their interests in mind, so it was really lovely to hear how they all enjoyed listening to Tina’s inspirational journey and how she came about being an award winning author.

Celebrating our Amazing Nurses
We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating International Nurses Day. It was the perfect opportunity to appreciate all our wonderful nurses we have at Corrina Lodge and the amazing work they do. Some of our very own residents who are former nurses loved joining in the celebrations.
Residents joined for a special Hobby Club to create some beautiful heart badges to give all of our nurses as a thank you. Chef Kathleen also baked some lovely cupcakes as a well-deserved treat.
A huge thank all the wonderful nurses all around the world for the fantastic work you do.

Sunflower Gifts for the Community
Yesterday we had a wonderful day really enjoying the joys of our garden.
As part of our Life Enrichment sessions we are passionate about the positive benefits that gardening and nature can have on our overall wellbeing.
We wanted to share that feeling of nurturing and enjoying something grow. So with that in mind we started operation sunflower.
We ended up with over 70 sturdy sunflowers which we've grown in our gardening club. As we had ended up with so many residents thought it would be a lovely idea to see if any of our local community would like one. All we asked is that they send us a photo of their sunflowers when they’ve grown so we can enjoy seeing them.
So we popped a table up out the front of Corrina Lodge with hope that our local community would give one a home and it worked, at the end of the day all our sunflowers had found a new home.
Mission accomplished!

Supper Club
Another successful supper club with some delicious home baked apple turnovers baked by our lovely residents which were put on the evenings supper menu. They looked and tasted amazing with a strong 10/10 verdict from the Corrina Community . Delicious!! On next week's supper menu we have cheese straws.
Our Supper Club is always well attended and residents thoroughly enjoy sharing their tried and tested recipes and expertise.

Brighton Marathon Achievement Team Corrina
Corrina Lodge are proud to congratulate Sharon and Rosie from the Activities Team on recently running Brighton Marathon together to raise funds for two charities that are incredibly close to their hearts, Pancreatic Cancer and The Brain Charity.
Rosie only recently took up running and this was both Sharon and Rosie’s first ever marathon which has been an incredible journey for them. They crossed the finish line together and have been overwhelmed with all the support and encouragement they’ve received from residents, their families and staff.
During this journey it’s been wonderful to share training stories with residents and to find out about some of their amazing sporting achievements, which include marathons, cross country, sky diving and tennis, to name but a few. This has been really inspiring and we look forward to supporting residents to reconnect with some of these hobbies.

Volunteer Group Spring Gardening
We were so grateful to welcome back Jules and her amazing team at GROHE Limited who so kindly gave up their time again today to spend time with residents gardening, enjoying some games and sharing a chat and a laugh. We planted a lot of seeds ready for the summer, including sunflowers and sweet peas. We are excited to nurture them and enjoy them in our lovely garden. We are looking forward to welcoming the team back in July.
