Activities at Corrina Lodge Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Sharon Rickman
Hi, my name is Sharon, and I'm part of the activities team here at Corrina Lodge and have worked here for over 20 years. I thoroughly enjoy my job and have achieved an NVQ Level 3 in Activities whilst working here. During my time here, I have met some truly amazing people and I feel privileged to work in a home with such a sense of community.

Life at Corrina Lodge Care Home
Open Day
Corrina Lodge recently welcomed the local community for an afternoon of musical entertainment, afternoon tea & cakes and the chance to meet the team and look around the home.
Our open day was held on 21st April between 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. Guests were able to meet and chat to the friendly staff, ask all the questions they had about care and enjoy the hospitality and entertainment on offer.
Councillor Valerie White, the Mayor of Surrey Heath, officially opened our newly refurbished home. She said our home is beautiful and so welcoming. She spent time with residents, their friends and families indoors and outside.
Our regular entertainer, Catherine Tarrant, sang a melody of familiar songs, and everyone joined in with her.
Freshly prepared sandwiches and cakes made by our Head Chef were also really enjoyed, along with a glass of sparkly.
Christmas Cake Competition
Our Head Chef, Frank Fatura, made this snowman cake for Barchester's Christmas Cake Competition. Fingers crossed, we win. Also, much to everyone's amusement, we used it at our Christmas Extravaganza for our 'Guess the weight of the cake' competition as a prize. One visitor went home very very happy!
A Passion for Painting
Resident, Mark, enjoys being able to pursue his passion of painting. He has produced some wonderful art work.
Halloween
We had such a fun day on Halloween; residents and staff dressed up, enjoyed a themed lunch and watched a scary movie. The home was festooned with cobwebs, spiders, witches and pumpkins. The activity team attempted to 'scare' every resident, but we all just ended up laughing – it was such a brilliant day.
Barchester's 25th Anniversary
Residents, loved ones, staff members and visitors had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Barchester's 25th birthday. Everyone enjoyed dressing up for the occasion and indulged in a scrumptious cream tea prepared by our Chefs.
We had a fun singalong with our entertainer, stopping only to raise a glass and cut the amazing birthday cake that was created by our Head Chef.
Celebrating Success
Michelle Llaguno is one of our Team Leaders at Corrina; she has been with us for over 10 years and is now undertaking training to be Corrina's first 'Care Practitioner'. General Manager, Lydia Makuyana, presented her with a bouquet of flowers at one of our supper events; and residents, their families, friends and Michelle's colleagues gave her the biggest round of applause we've ever heard. Well done and good luck with all your training, Michelle.
