Activities at Crabwall Hall Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Jacqui Cameron

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love.

Life at Crabwall Hall Care Home

Halloween fun

Over the past week we have been celebrating Halloween having fun doing various crafting activities, today we donned our witches hats, decorated the lounge and had a games afternoon, even Nicki our receptionist got involved.

We also had our monthly visit from Father Paul, who always provides a beautiful service for our residents, thank you Father Paul.

10-years Long service celebrated

Karen has worked at Crabwall Hall for 10 years! Karen is one of our dedicated activities. Karen has a fantastic relationship with both residents and her team. She is always positive and smiling, going above and beyond!  A huge thank you from all at Crabwall Hall and Barchester Healthcare.  Thank you for all you do

Wear it Pink

Crabwall Hall in Chester joined in with celebrating Wear It Pink Day during Breast Cancer Awareness Month along with hundreds of thousands of other people across the UK and raised a fantastic total of £70.00 for charity.

Wear It Pink is a Breast Cancer awareness campaign which has so far raised £31.5million for breast cancer since the campaign started in 2002. Schools, businesses and families get together to eat, wear and make something pink in order to raise money for breast cancer.

Edinburgh Botanical Garden

Our homes enjoyed a wonderful virtual tour of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh with Community Engagement Manager, Charlotte Walker, and Botanic Cottage Operations Co-ordinator, Laura Gallagher.

The residents were thrilled to learn more about the history of the beautiful Garden, which is now a home to an impressive plant collection from around the world.

Charlotte and Laura also gave a demonstration of making fresh herbal tea and were happy to answer our questions.  The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined.

Wallace Collection

Our homes had a fantastic time joining members of the Wallace Collection for an amazing sensory session.

During the live virtual experience, our residents explored one of the museum’s most beautiful Dutch flower paintings and learnt new drawing techniques.

We cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and produce beautiful paintings of our own.

Everyone enjoyed the lovely talk, we all had lots of fun and it’s given us plenty of ideas.

Colleague prepares for Great North Run

On September 11th, a brave member of staff from Baychester Healthcare's Crabwall Hall care home in Mollington will be taking on the gruelling Great North Run to raise money for Baychester’s Charitable Foundation. The Foundation supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.

Crabwall Hall's receptionist, Nicki Owen, will don her lira, put on her trainers and use grit and determination to complete the 13.1 mile half marathon course that starts in Newcastle upon Tyne and takes thousands of runners over the iconic Tyne Bridge in order to raise funds for Baychester’s Charitable Foundation.
