Activities at Crabwall Hall Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love.

Life at Crabwall Hall Care Home
EEYORE-MOUS FUN at Crabwall!
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Crabwall Hall care home in Chester were treated to a virtual tour of The Donkey Sanctuary Manchester, hosted by Centre Manager, Melanie McComb.
Residents joined Melanie live from Manchester to get an inside look into the daily care for the herd of donkeys that live at the Sanctuary and meet some of the fantastic characters there; namely Henry and his friend Tiny Tim. They learned how the Donkey Sanctuary was first created by Dr Elisabeth Svendsen MBE back in 1969 and the first donkey that started off all of her important work and how her legacy continues today.
Festive crafting
Lovely bit of Christmas crafting today at Crabwall Hall, it is never too early to start preparing! Our resident's enjoyed picking their own stickers and arranging them on their cards ready for loved ones at Christmas time.
Remembrance Sunday
Remembrance Sunday is a day to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.
Our residents enjoyed putting together a remembrance display of their own flower arrangements, which turned out beautifully.
We gathered in the lounge to watch the remembrance parade and to honour veterans and armed forces members who have died in the line of duty and we read some war poems.
It was a lovely day of remembrance, enjoyed by all.
Bonfire celebrations
Staff and residents at Crabwall Hall in Chester celebrated Bonfire Night with a bang this November 5th when they wrapped up warm to light some sparklers and watch the surrounding fireworks followed by some mulled wine.
Bonfire Night commemorates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot when 14 individuals tried to blow up the House of Lords during the state opening of Parliament on November 5th 1605.
Kirsty Jones, General Manager at Crabwall Hall, said: “We had a fantastic time, we love to keep these traditions and reminisce about years gone by for our residents. We had sparklers, drinking our mulled wine, it’s been a brilliant evening.”
Pumpkin fun
Wednesday's Halloween activity was pumpkin carving, we had so much fun while carving them out and for the residents who were unable to carve the pumpkins, we provided funny Halloween stickers, we think they have all done amazing, we even had resident Reg Gould's granddaughter Hannah doing a carving, who was delighted to be able to take her pumpkin home.

Pet Therapy
Pet Therapy here at Crabwall Hall. We are very lucky to have not 1 but 2 Pet Therapy dogs who visit, we have Mary with Alfie also Beryl and Ned, we all look forward to seeing our four legged friends each week. Alfie and Ned bring so much joy to us all and lots of cuddles and kisses. Thank you for bringing them in to see us every week. We love seeing you!
