Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Katherine Cork
Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.
As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives by providing meaningful and engaging activities and, having been both a teacher and care assistant in the past, have a wealth of experience behind me. You'll rarely find me without a smile and I'm very family orientated, and I love how both the residents' and colleagues Crandon Springs feel like a second family to me!

Remembrance cards for the next generation.
The team at Barchester’s newly built care home, Crandon Springs in Wells, wanted to pay respect and engage with the local community for Remembrance Day this Sunday. The home acknowledges that a lot of local events have been cancelled and wanted a way to raise awareness safely.
The colleagues at Crandon Springs’ created a poster for the local community and young children to customise themselves. The poster featured poppies and quoted “Lest we forget” to raise awareness. The children at Rockers and Rockers of Glastonbury Road received the posters and local children enjoyed learning about the history whilst getting creative.
Home Service Advisor, Bethany Chattwood said “We work closely with the local community and felt it was such a misfortune that we couldn’t support any local remembrance events due to government guidelines. Our home created a way to educate the younger generation on such an important part of our history whilst still allowing them to get creative”
We are welcoming new residents into our homes to ensure that we are there for those that need care and support, and have a very clear admission policy and infection control protocols that must be met. Please do give us a call on 01749 302592 if you are looking for care or need any further help.
Local boy wins spooky treats from Crandon Springs!
Barchester’s newly built care home Crandon Springs, in Wells, was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween pumpkin carving competition got in to full swing.
The local Wells’ community and staff got in to the spirit of things encouraging the local community to enter a pictures of their pumpkin carvings. After long consideration the staff at Crandon Springs chose an entry by Rudy, a local boy who is clearly very creative! The colleagues at Crandon Springs gave Rudy a Halloween treat for taking part in the community event.
Home Service Advisor, Bethany Chattwood cackled: “At Crandon Springs we love an opportunity to dress up and celebrate and what better time of the year to do this than Halloween? We’ve had a whole range of entries from the local public, all really impressive – it was really hard to judge!”

Crandon Springs and the Local Community
As Crandon Springs Care Home prepares to open our doors to the community next month we had a few things we wanted to do first! Our gardens are being landscaped next week but we felt a burying a time capsule before this would be a great way to reminisce on how 2020 has been such an unusual year.
Our home service advisor Bethany called two local nurseries to take part in creating some artwork to reflect on the year and welcome Crandon Springs to the community. The art work was beautiful and we even received a favourite cuddly toy to add to our time capsule too!
Thank you to all the children and staff Rockers and Rollers Day Nursery and Tree House Day Nursery for taking part.
Our marketing suite is set to open the 9th of November 2020 to showcase our home. Viewings are by appointment only, please note we are fully booked for the first week of opening and are now looking at appointments for the week commencing the 16th of November.
