Activities at The Dales Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Kay Thompson
Hi, my name is Kay and I am the activities coordinator here at the Dales. I joined the team in June 2021 and I love spending time with the residents each day, delivering meaningful activities that keep our residents active and social stimulated, more importantly we have fun! Our life enrichment programme is varied and we have lots to do!
Before I joined the home I was a lecturer teaching young individuals with high needs, it is very different being an activities coordinator but it does help with understand how to ensure everyone is happy each and every day in everything that we do.
I look forward to meeting you when you visit our home.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at The Dales Care Home

The history of Dogs Trust
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.
Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.

Residents enjoy wimbledon coverage
Residents and staff at The Dales care home in Draughton were at the ready for the start of Wimbledon on July 3rd with delicious strawberries and cream, all washed down with a glass of Pimms.
Tennis fans at The Dales were delighted to be able to watch this year’s 136th Championships. Residents and staff got together to watch the matches and celebrated by having afternoon tea whipped up by head chef Patrick Bonus with traditional Wimbledon-inspired strawberry and cream treats.

Home embraces flower power
Residents at The Dale Care Home in Draughton celebrated British Flowers Week which took place from 12-18 June. Founded by New Covent Garden Market in 2013, British Flowers Week is an annual celebration of the wealth and variety of British flowers, plants and foliage.

Rural Art on Memory Lane
A lovely morning of Arts and Crafts yesterday on Memory Lane. Jane from Rural Art comes and joins us monthly with different types of art for us all to have a go at. We made some chicks and owls and can’t wait to see them after they’ve been in the kiln. Next months’ art will be something different and we are all looking forward already!

Music with Flutes
A lovely afternoon yesterday with Angela and Alison playing their flutes! Angela and Alison are very close friends of one of our residents and her family, so we thought we would not miss the opportunity to hear them play. Wonderful music, very calming and amazing tunes. Residents are making a list of their favourite rhythms for next time.

Lianne is back!
The sun was shining and it was a fabulous Saturday here at The Dales! We haven’t had Lianne here in her magic shoes singing for a while, but this weekend she was back. Wonderful singing and a little bit of dancing for staff and residents. We loved it and were totally ready for a tasty lunch after!
