Activities at The Dales Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Kay Thompson
Hi, my name is Kay and I am the activities coordinator here at the Dales. I joined the team in June 2021 and I love spending time with the residents each day, delivering meaningful activities that keep our residents active and social stimulated, more importantly we have fun! Our life enrichment programme is varied and we have lots to do!
Before I joined the home I was a lecturer teaching young individuals with high needs, it is very different being an activities coordinator but it does help with understand how to ensure everyone is happy each and every day in everything that we do.
I look forward to meeting you when you visit our home.

Life at The Dales Care Home
Starting the Halloween feeling
It's been lovely having Carmel, Jocelyn and Nicola joining in with a little bit of Halloween art. We started with making some mini pumpkin houses to go on show and finishing off with painting some mini false pumpkins, this gives us something that will last forever. We're all starting to get the Halloween feeling!
Home hosts charity event
To mark Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together on Thursday 21st September at The Dales Care Home in Skipton to raise funds and enjoy a Coffee Morning held at the home.
The Dales hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, including themed games, art, pamper and time to talk. There was also live entertainment, with a local talent called Terry which was enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.
Music for Health
I know I’m always taking pictures of this wonderful activity but it’s just fabulous sharing the regular fabulous fun we have here at The Dales. Wonderful Music for Health with Richard yesterday, enjoyed by everyone! Music really does work it’s magic!
Rural Art
We are always happy when it comes to Rural Art with Jane here at The Dales. This month was like travelling the world! We talked about where we’ve been, where our favourite places are, where we’d love to go and then put together some more collages to go on show! Our next theme will be getting ready for Halloween!
Roald Dahl Day
A lovely Roald Dahl day yesterday here at The Dales. We started off doing some art work creating our own characters using characters from the wonderful books. We went through our favourite books and finished off with watching our favourite film - Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory! Enjoyed by everyone!
National Allotment Week
It was the National Allotment Week in August, we don’t have an allotment but decided we would do our own version. Everyone enjoyed having a go at seeing if we can get some vegetables growing, we’ll be watering them regularly and if anything starts to pop up we’ll be transferring them into deeper, bigger pots. Everything crossed!
