Activities at The Dales Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Hi, my name is Kay and I am the activities coordinator here at the Dales. I joined the team in June 2021 and I love spending time with the residents each day, delivering meaningful activities that keep our residents active and social stimulated, more importantly we have fun! Our life enrichment programme is varied and we have lots to do!
Before I joined the home I was a lecturer teaching young individuals with high needs, it is very different being an activities coordinator but it does help with understand how to ensure everyone is happy each and every day in everything that we do.
I look forward to meeting you when you visit our home.

Mini Bus Excursion – Robertshaw’s Farm Shop
A wonderful Gentlemen’s Day Out to Robertshaw’s Farm Shop!
It was a little windy but the sun was shining so we thought it would be rude not to get out there and enjoy it!
We started off having a little chat with all the animals from goats to guinea pigs and we loved watching the baby goat being given some milk!
Next was to have a good look around the gardening area and we planned what we need for our garden once the weather fully picks up! We now have a bit list!
On our way out the gentlemen were asked if they would like something to eat and it was the burgers that were chosen!
Fully enjoyed by everyone!
Mini Bus Excursion - Keighley Cougars Rugby Club
We had a lovely lunch, a good chat with lots of people and played a new version of ‘getting to know me’ snakes and ladders that was put together from another care home! Wonderful questions and a fabulous game!
We also met a couple of the Keighley Cougars!
We can’t thank everyone enough for arranging and inviting us. Looking forward to next time already!
The magic of exercise!
Lots of exercise here at The Dales on a regular basis!
Rise and Shine Exercise for Life with Karen and Sarah and U sit U Exercise with Mark. Wonderful movements, equipment, music and wonderful people who come along to help keep everyone moving.
Regular physical activities are very important along with the magic of fun and laughter - laughter is one of our ‘every day exercises’.
Mini bus excursion – Woodbank Garden Centre and Nurseries
What another wonderful mini bus excursion!
We went to the Woodbank Garden Centre and Nurseries over at Harden near Bingley. Everyone was amazed at how big it is, so much to see and do. We started off with having a go at the ‘old penny arcade’, amazing changing £1 in to old coins to have a go, we did win some little sweeties!
Next was to visit a lot of fish, birds, a talking parrot - who was quiet today, guinea pigs, an owl and 2 tortoises! Amazing seeing things we forgot existed and very calming watching the beautiful fish swim!
We thought it was next time for a warm drink and a slice of cake wonderful getting the spring feeling of seeing all the plants, flowers and more while making our way to the The Potting Shed Restaurant!
Amazing having our residents enjoy visiting places and seeing things they remember!
20-years long service celebrated
A Carer has received a prestigious 20 years’ service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 20 years. Relinda Bonus, now Senior Carer, started at Barchester in March 2004 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.
Roisin Doyle, General Manager said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating 20 years of loyal service with Relinda. She has demonstrated her dedication and loyalty to this home and its residents year after year. I speak for all of us here at The Dales when I say that I’m looking forward to many more years of working with Relinda!”
Mini Bus Excursion
The weather hasn’t been great but that didn’t stop us from enjoying our mini bus excursions!
We went up to Watershed Mill in Settle! A lovely walk around the shop and loving everything we saw! We then went into the cafe for a lovely cup of tea and were laughing at the jokes told by one of our residents.
Before home time we enjoyed our picnic put together by our chef Kevin and were admiring the beautiful views!
The wonderful effect it has on residents with the mini bus trips, loved by everyone!
