We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team is dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Activities Co-Ordinator

Being Head of life enrichment is not a job it is a passion. Vicky has been working in the health and social care sector for 23 years. Vicky has already been working at Denmead Grange for a year as a valued Senior Carer. Vicky already has extensive knowledge about the home and our residents which means she already has an insight into what the resident enjoy. Vicky is looking forward to her role as she believes that Life Enrichment is a truly rewarding role where she can ensure everyday is meaningful to the people we care for. My aim is to ensure that our residents get to continue doing the things they love, trying new things and extending their skills and knowledge. My goal each day is to bring enjoyment, laughter and smiles to everyone at Denmead Grange!

Celebrating Chinese New Year

Happy Lunar New Year! Year of the snake The celebrations started by us preparing our own lanterns which we made ready to decorate the home! We then enjoyed a fantastic Chinese themed lunch where we enjoyed a selection of home made Dumplings with dipping sauce, Duck plum sauce, chinese pork belly with a side of pineapple fried rice and vegetable noodles! The afternoon followed with fortune cookies where we read our fortunes and enjoyed a Chinese new year themed quiz to test our knowledge!

Goats Visit Out Home

Just look at these joyous interactions between the residents and the lovely baby goats from Ems friendly farm !We must admit these little guys were very hard to photograph as they were cheeky and quick but they kept the residents and staff laughing watching them play! They did calm down and let us have a cuddle The natural bond between humans and animals always brings comfort and they definitely made us smile Thankyou again for a lovely visit!

Birthdays at Blooms

When residents have birthdays we like to celebrate. Cathy and Wendy were not put off by the windy weather and opted to go out for their birthday celebrations to be at the wonderful Blooms Café EmsworthThe ladies were joined by some friends from the home and they enjoyed the lovely cakes & coffee!  

Christmas Party

Everyone got dressed in their party clothes for this well waited for day!  

The hugely talented Nathalie Gunn sung us a huge assortment of all our Christmas favourites dressed as an elf. 

We sang, clapped and danced for the whole afternoon and ended the day with some delicious food prepared by our chefs! 

We went to bed with full tummies and full hearts!  

Theatre Company

Day 16 of our countdown to Christmas gave us the Tickled Pink Productions. 

A travelling theatre company that visited us with their wonderful Christmas performance. 

We all happily sang along and got into the spirit of things! Not long now!

Wreath Making

On the 2nd day of Christmas Denmead gave to them…

A wonderful wreath making workshop with Kelly from The Flower Artist.  

Step by step we worked together to create a beautiful wreath to proudly hang on our doors. Obviously, we had mince pies and refreshments to keep us going!
