Activities at Denmead Grange Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team is dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Being Head of life Enrichment isn’t just a job, it’s a passion.
My time with the residents has and will always be an honour and pleasure.
Finding out their interests and hobbies, so I can tailor the weekly planner is such a great thing to do, as this means lots of chats over a good cuppa! But it also means that I can get to know them personally and get to understand a part of their past, so I can continue to help them experience their interests in this next phase of their lives.
A truly rewarding role, where I can be part of and contribute to something meaningful. All I hope for, is to make this journey for both the residents and their families, as restful, easy and enjoyable as possible. Then I know I’ve done my part.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Denmead Music Night
Tuesday night is our favourite night of the week at Denmead…
It’s Music Night
During the day the residents request their favourite songs, which are saved in our now huge playlist.
We get together in one of our four lounges, enjoy a glass of wine and sing along.
Everyone goes to bed with a smile!
Amber the Therapy Dog
We have been fortunate enough to have made a new friend at Denmead.
Amber the therapy dog!
Pet Therapy has many benefits for people living with dementia. It can improve moods and have a wonderful calming effect. Both residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed the visit and look forward to seeing her again.
The Barchester Big Quiz
We joined all the other Barchester homes and hospitals for The Big Barchester Quiz!
We got together to test our knowledge and worked as a team to get 30/30! all whilst eating chocolate and drinking tea

The first Mini Bus trip of the year
Taking our residents out is an important part of our activity program. Sometimes this can be just for a drive and cuppa, other times a garden centre. The residents are asked if there is anywhere they would like to go. Most of the time they are happy to get out. We have a sing-along on the journey and make the most of our time out and together
Christmas day
Christmas day was a team effort. Our residents all received a gift from out cheeky elf and her helpers! Families visited throughout the day bringing even more gifts, And the most incredible lunch was served by our Head Chef Craig and the kitchen team. Some even commented that it was the best Christmas lunch they had eaten!
The afternoon continued with music and games until we all needed a much needed nap, before yet another fabulous supper.
Scouts Visit
At Denmead we know how important evening activities are too…
We were gratefully joined by Denmead Scout group. They came along and showed us how to make bird feeders for our garden out of cheerio’s, stars for our tree out of straws and decorated biscuits.
We all enjoyed connecting with our community and making new friends and what polite new friends they were!
We have already booked future dates for more arts and craft evenings!
