Activities at Denmead Grange Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team is dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Vicky Burgess
Being Head of life enrichment is not a job it is a passion. Vicky has been working in the health and social care sector for 23 years. Vicky has already been working at Denmead Grange for a year as a valued Senior Carer. Vicky already has extensive knowledge about the home and our residents which means she already has an insight into what the resident enjoy. Vicky is looking forward to her role as she believes that Life Enrichment is a truly rewarding role where she can ensure everyday is meaningful to the people we care for. My aim is to ensure that our residents get to continue doing the things they love, trying new things and extending their skills and knowledge. My goal each day is to bring enjoyment, laughter and smiles to everyone at Denmead Grange!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Denmead Grange Care Home

Carols, Nativity and Holy Communion
The wonderful Reverend Emma from our local church in Denmead and her friends joined us.
We had carols, the story of the nativity followed by Holy Communion for those that wanted it.
Everyone joined in and left feeling extremely festive and blessed.
We are fortunate that the Reverend visits us every month to deliver a service and welcomes everyone.

Resident Revisits Theatre
Sandra, one of the residents at Denmead Grange, was the ‘face’ of Portsmouth’s King’s Theatre for 30 years and always longed to go back, so staff at the home made her wish a reality proving the old adage, it’s never too late.
Her family also spoke of her wish to return and how they would love to take her back. Ever since then, the team at Denmead Grange have been dedicated to helping Sandra and her family achieve their goal. They contacted the theatre who were only too delighted to help and the date was set. On the day of the visit, everyone at the King’s Theatre greeted Sandra, who is living with dementia, like a celebrity!
They all hugged her and made her feel so very welcome, like she’d never been away! The theatre staff took Sandra on a tour of the building and she went back to her old office which was incredibly emotional for her. Sandra had a wonderful experience and the team from Denmead Grange found it very moving to see how happy she was, they are so grateful to everyone at King’s Theatre for going out of their way to treat Sandra so beautifully.
