Activities at Dudwell St Mary Care Home
Our activity coordinator provides our home with a fun-packed weekly programme to engage all residents. Past activities include bread making, pottery, knitting, and card making. Not only do we run regular exercise programmes for the residents but we also have our regular entertainers come in to entertain our residents and their families. The activity coordinator visits residents on a one-to-one basis, for a chat, manicure and hand massage. The activity co-ordinator said "Residents love the one-to-ones and especially enjoy the manicure and hand massage, as not only is it stimulating but it boosts their confidence and pride in their appearance.''
Linda Lawes
My Name is Linda and I am one of the Activities Co-ordinators at Dudwell St. Mary care home.
I joined Dudwell St Mary in April 2008 as a Housekeeping Assistant and later became the Head of Housekeeping. In 2018 I then became an activities co-ordinator where I brought lots of new exciting ideas to the role.
I am passionate about my role within the home and aim to bring a smile to all our residents’ faces through different types of activities. My personality is bright and bubbly so aim to share this each day at work.
As I gather the residents likes and dislikes if you would like to come and chat with me about your family member please contact the home to arrange.

Life at Dudwell St Mary Care Home
Taking Gizmo for a walk
Bringing animals into the home always lifts spirits. One resident was more than happy to take the lead and take Gizmo round to see everybody. She then took him for a walk outside and said she was enjoying the exercise too!
Tickling the Ivories
We always try to promote residents individual interests and hobbies. One of our residents was a keen piano player so we got out the keyboard for him to have a go. He was a bit reluctant at first, but once he started you could see it all coming back to him and he couldn’t stop smiling.
Hallowee Flower Arranging
Flower arranging is always popular so we have a regular monthly club. We thought we’d try something a bit different as Halloween is coming up so we used pumpkins as vases!
Residents thought this was a lovely idea and enjoyed making their displays.
MacMillan coffee morning
We hosted a coffee morning for MacMillan and it was lovely to have everyone together with friends and family. Our chef baked some tasty cakes for the occasion and we raised £100 on the morning and more donations are coming in. Thank you to everyone for your support.
Art afternoon
We got the paints out and had an afternoon creating our flower pictures. Art can be very therapeutic and is a great way to relax and step away from what can be a busy environment,
Cockney knees-up with the lovely Rosie
We had a right old Cockney knees-up with the lovely Rosie, brought back lots of memories of sitting round the piano singing lots of singalong songs.
