Activities at Dudwell St Mary Care Home

Our activity coordinator provides our home with a fun-packed weekly programme to engage all residents. Past activities include bread making, pottery, knitting, and card making. Not only do we run regular exercise programmes for the residents but we also have our regular entertainers come in to entertain our residents and their families. The activity coordinator visits residents on a one-to-one basis, for a chat, manicure and hand massage. The activity co-ordinator said "Residents love the one-to-ones and especially enjoy the manicure and hand massage, as not only is it stimulating but it boosts their confidence and pride in their appearance.''

Linda Lawes

Activities Coordinator

My Name is Linda and I am one of the Activities Co-ordinators at Dudwell St. Mary care home.

I joined Dudwell St Mary in April 2008 as a Housekeeping Assistant and later became the Head of Housekeeping.  In 2018 I then became an activities co-ordinator where I brought lots of new exciting ideas to the role.

I am passionate about my role within the home and aim to bring a smile to all our residents’ faces through different types of activities. My personality is bright and bubbly so aim to share this each day at work.

As I gather the residents likes and dislikes if you would like to come and chat with me about your family member please contact the home to arrange.

Life at Dudwell St Mary Care Home

A trip to our Sister Home

We took a trip out to one of our sister homes in Uckfield for lunch. Residents really enjoyed getting out and about for the day and to meet new people. We spent the afternoon making flower posies which we brought back with us to display in the lounge.

Out for a Walk

We are very lucky to have some lovely places to take our residents out for a walk and enjoy the countryside. We like to have regular trips out, and our walking club is very popular with residents.

A Simple Game Of Dominoes

Sometimes the most simple activity can bring so much joy! Here at Dudwell St. Mary, we had a nice, relaxing afternoon playing Dominoes. Residents really enjoyed themselves.

A visit from our local Animal Rescure Centre

Here at Dudwell St Mary, we have a monthly visit from an animal rescue centre. The residents really look forward to our furry friends coming to see us and everyone gets involved. They do group sessions as well as visiting residents in their rooms.

Getting Crafty for Christmas

Residents have been getting crafty for Christmas. They have all enjoyed making lovely Christmas decorations to adorn our Christmas trees.

Christmas Pantomime

We had a theatre company come and visit us with their production of Jack and the Beanstalk. It was so much fun! Residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance. It got staff and residents all excited for Christmas.
