Activities at Edgbaston Beaumont Care Home

Our team pride ourselves in providing a wide range of activities and events to suit all of our residents needs. Comprising of art and craft classes, pet therapy, outside entertainers, visits from local schools where students attend and work alongside ourselves and the residents. We also have presentations on wildlife and other demonstrations, musicality and singalongs, quizzes, a poetry corner, knit and natter sessions, and one to one interaction, as well as trips out in the mini bus. For our residents who are less mobile we bring the shopping experience to the home for their convenience. We respect everyone's religious beliefs by providing visits from all denominations, such as Anglican, Catholic, working in conjunction with the local mosque and the Jewish community and providing religious interaction. We encourage our residents families to participate in all our activities, working alongside them to ensure we provide the best service possible here at Edgbaston Beaumont.

Celia Palmer

Activity Coordinator

I’m Celia and I’m the Activity coordinator here at Edgbaston Beaumont.  I previously worked as an activity coordinator in a hostel and am enjoying the shift into the residential setting.  I have an arts background so enjoy painting and drawing in my spare time, which hopefully I can share my love for with the residents here.  I also enjoy reading, travel, live music and looking after my cats! And copious amounts of tea.

Pride Month

We supported Pride Month in June with an amazing party to promote inclusivity and diversity at Edgbaston Beaumont and show our support to the LGBTQ+ community. We decorated the garden with beautiful rainbow flags and bunting and our residents really enjoyed the colourful celebrations. It was lovely to have some of our residents family members join us too for the afternoon. We were entertained by Naomi who sang a repitoire of songs from iconic artists such as Freddie Mercury, Elton John, Tina Turner, Cher and Kylie to name just a few. It was an fantastic party atmosphere with everyone waving flags, dancing and moving to the music. We all enjoyed fruity cocktails, ice lolly's and the beautiful sunshine.

Jubilee Celebrations

We celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in style at Edgbaston Beaumont. In recognition of the special occasion we organised a Cream Tea and welcomed family, friends and members of our local community. We enjoyed a delicious buffet, home baked scones, cakes, tea and lots of fizz. We thoroughly enjoyed live entertainment from the Mini Concerts ‘D-Day Dollies’ and one of our resident’s grand daughter’s played ‘God Save The Queen’ on clarinet in the garden. The home was beautifully decorated with themed flags, bunting, balloons and our residents' art and craft creations and flower arrangements 'fit for a queen'.

Royal Ascot

We had an amazing Royal Ascot Ladies Day at Edgbaston Beaumont. Residents and staff wore beautiful hand crafted flower fascinators and our residents had a bet on the 3.05pm race at Ascot and enjoyed a lovely glass of fizz. Our resident Edna was delighted to win 1st and 3rd prize. Our General Manager Sarah and Activities Lead Kelly then took to the garden for the final race of the day. It was very close but Kelly just pipped Sarah to the post!

Eurovision Party

On the day of the Eurovision song contest we all enjoyed a Eurovision themed party in the garden. The sun was shining, we enjoyed fruity mocktails and were entertained by the amazing Damian. Our Activities Lead, Kelly, sparkled in her ABBA costume and accompanied Damian singing Eurovision classics: ABBA's - 'Waterloo' and Brotherhood of Man's - 'Save all your kisses for me'. Damian sang songs on request and we finished the afternoon with one of our residents favourite songs 'I want to dance the night away'.

EID Celebrations

We all had an amazing time at our Eid Celebrations. Our residents enjoyed a delicious lunch of Indian Cuisine which included Samosas to start with a choice of Beef Curry or Cod in Spiced Lentil & Vegetable sauce for the main course. After lunch Jag provided a fantastic interactive workshop of Bhangra and Bollywood dancing, as well as playing and dancing to the sounds of the Dhol drum. Everywhere was decorated for the occasion and our residents created beautiful wreaths with stars and moons which looked lovely when displayed in the dining room.

VE Day

We had the most amazing time celebrating VE Day. There was a fantastic party atmosphere in the dining room, with residents singing along to war time music and waving Union Jack flags. Our residents enjoyed a delicious lunch of Cream of Mushroom Soup to start, Roast Beef or Poached Cod with all the trimmings for the main course followed by Strawberry Trifle for dessert. After lunch we were entertained in the Lounge by the amazing Melissa who sang an array of wartime songs for us. In the lead up to VE day we had a reminiscence session in the Cafe. Our residents looked at old photographs and talked about their memories of the Second World War and VE Day.
