Activities at Edgbaston Beaumont Care Home
Our team pride ourselves in providing a wide range of activities and events to suit all of our residents needs. Comprising of art and craft classes, pet therapy, outside entertainers, visits from local schools where students attend and work alongside ourselves and the residents. We also have presentations on wildlife and other demonstrations, musicality and singalongs, quizzes, a poetry corner, knit and natter sessions, and one to one interaction, as well as trips out in the mini bus. For our residents who are less mobile we bring the shopping experience to the home for their convenience. We respect everyone's religious beliefs by providing visits from all denominations, such as Anglican, Catholic, working in conjunction with the local mosque and the Jewish community and providing religious interaction. We encourage our residents families to participate in all our activities, working alongside them to ensure we provide the best service possible here at Edgbaston Beaumont.
Celia Palmer
I’m Celia and I’m the Activity coordinator here at Edgbaston Beaumont. I previously worked as an activity coordinator in a hostel and am enjoying the shift into the residential setting. I have an arts background so enjoy painting and drawing in my spare time, which hopefully I can share my love for with the residents here. I also enjoy reading, travel, live music and looking after my cats! And copious amounts of tea.

Life at Edgbaston Beaumont Care Home
VE Day
We had the most amazing time celebrating VE Day. There was a fantastic party atmosphere in the dining room, with residents singing along to war time music and waving Union Jack flags. Our residents enjoyed a delicious lunch of Cream of Mushroom Soup to start, Roast Beef or Poached Cod with all the trimmings for the main course followed by Strawberry Trifle for dessert. After lunch we were entertained in the Lounge by the amazing Melissa who sang an array of wartime songs for us. In the lead up to VE day we had a reminiscence session in the Cafe. Our residents looked at old photographs and talked about their memories of the Second World War and VE Day.
St George's Day
Residents enjoyed an arts and craft session with Fiona from Creative Mojo and created a beautiful piece of art which we displayed in reception to decorate for St Georges day. Our dining room was decorated in patriotic red and white and residents enjoyed a delicious three course lunch. On the menu was Broccoli and Potato Soup to start, a choice of Beef in Red Wine or Sea Bass in a Creamy Dill & Herb Sauce for the main course, followed by Eton Mess or Apple Crumble for dessert. After lunch we were entertained in the Lounge by the amazing Naomi who sang a repertoire of English classics. There was a real party atmosphere, staff and residents sang along, waved flags, danced and moved to the music and a fantastic time was had by all.
Easter Party
We all had a lovely day at our Easter party. Residents enjoyed a delicious three course lunch in our beautiful Dining Room which was decorated for the occasion. We had Leek and Potato Soup or Creamy Mushrooms on Toast to start, a choice of Roast Lamb or Poached Cod for the main course, followed by Hot Cross Bun Bake or decorative Easter Bunny Chocolate Cake for dessert. After lunch, residents wore their hand-crafted Easter Bonnets and Robert entertained us in the Lounge with his accordion. There was a great party atmosphere with everyone singing along and moving to the music.
Hatching Chicks
We were so excited to hatch chicks this month. Jo Jo, our first chick to be hatched, was named by Jean, one of our residents. Staff and residents visited the chick all day to check on its progress and to see if there were any other new arrivals. The following day we were delighted to see Jo Jo had lots of chick friends! In what seemed like no time at all, the chicks became lively and fluffy and started to develop their feathers. It’s been amazing being able to care for them, hold them and watch them grow.
Flower Arranging & Pamper Time
Residents have enjoyed flower arranging and have created pretty flower jars and vase arrangements to brighten up the home and their rooms. Morrison’s Edgbaston Community Champion very kindly donated a selection of beautiful fresh flowers. Residents have also enjoyed some pampering in our Café. The activity team created a lovely spa experience with candles, a nail bar, refreshments and relaxing music.
A Musical Tribute
We were all truly blown away when Mini Concerts performed ‘A Spoonful of Sugar – a musical tribute to Dame Julie Andrews’ for our residents this week. Emily entertained us with her amazing voice and sang songs from ’Mary Poppins’ and ‘The Sound of Music’. Residents wore hats for the occasion, clapped and sang along to ‘Do-Re-Mi’, ‘So Long, Farewell’, ‘I Feel Pretty’ and ‘The Lonely Goatherd’ amongst other classics. It was a wonderfully uplifting show.
