Activities at Edingley Lodge Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Edingley Lodge Care Home
Stars and Stripes for American Independence Day
Staff and residents at Edingley Lodge got the flags out and celebrated American Independence Day in style by hosting a ranch inspired party with line dancing and cowboy hats on the 4th of July.
Many residents have visited America and some have family living there so American Independence Day was a great excuse to reminisce about previous trips and go on virtual tours to favourite places such as New York, the Grand Canyon and San Francisco. Residents enjoyed movies from the Golden Age of Hollywood as well as dancing to playlists including American greats such as Buddy Holly, Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra.
Residents join dogs welfare charity
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity.
Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities. Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.
A Beautiful Church Service
This Morning we welcomed Rev Mary Foden Curries and team from St Giles’Church in Edingley, to the home to deliver a church service to our residents.
We sang some beautiful hymns and spoke about the lovely weather we are currently experiencing.
Thank you Mary for a wonderful service.
Vegetable Gardening at Edingley Lodge
This morning some of our residents took the opportunity to head out into the garden to plant a variety of vegetables and fruit in our sensory garden.
We can’t wait to see what the garden will look like in a couple of months’ time! Our aim is to create an outdoor safe space for our residents filled with sounds, scents and textures that will help stimulate all the 5 senses.
Lovely bubbly as we celebrate English Wine Week
This year, English Wine Week takes place from June 17th to 25th and is being celebrated by wine enthusiasts from all over the country. It was certainly a week of fun-filled tastings for the staff and residents at Edingley Lodge care home in Newark, Edingley.
Whether you love a glass of fizz, a nice dry white, a delicate rosé, a juicy red or all of the above, English Wine Week is the perfect excuse to immerse yourself in the wonderful world of English wines. It is no longer unusual to see fields of vines in England, or to find English brands on the wine list in restaurants, English wines are now a force to be reckoned with.
Royal Ascot celebration at Edingley Lodge
Residents have enjoyed celebrating British wine week with a cheese and wine social in the home.
We had a variety of classic wines including red, white and rose along with different cheeses and cheese flavoured snacks.
Residents also enjoyed watching the horse race this afternoon.
