Activities at Emily Jackson House Care Home

Our activities team continues to offer a wide range of activities to both mentally and physically stimulate our residents. Our activities include one to one shopping, group outings in our minibus, and regularly attending our local church and bowling club. We also enjoy the entertainment from the musicians who come and visit us as well as our PAT dog. We have a range of activities so residents with all abilities and talents can join in activities and social gatherings. We encourage families and volunteers to share the joy with us by taking part in our social events as well.

Life at Emily Jackson House Care Home

Spanish Club

Spanish Club

We are pleased to welcome Rosa, a native Spanish speaker, to run her Spanish Club for children at Emily Jackson House. On Friday, morning we have lots of toddlers and babies joining in with residents singing Spanish songs and learning Spanish phrases. Ellen in particular is a big fan of baby Isobel.

Pet Therapy

The residents enjoying saying hello to Claudia, our PAT dog. She is so gentle and loves all the cuddles and attention she gets from residents. Claudia visits us regularly with her owner, Mary. Claudia, was a rescue dog and she is also a sausage dog.

Real Chicks for Easter

Real Chicks for Easter

On Monday 26th March, we will have some real chicken eggs coming into Emily Jackson. The ten eggs will arrive in an incubator and we shall keep them in a nice cozy corner in the lounge on the ground floor. We will number the eggs and have a sweepstake to see which eggs hatch first.

Residents and visitors will get the chance to see mother nature in all her glory as ten tiny chicks peck their way out of their eggs. Once hatched out, we shall feed and water the chicks for several days, including over Easter, until they are about 8 days old, and then they will go back to the farm where they came from.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day

On Sunday 11th March, all the female residents got a primrose potted flower and we took their photo to celebrate this special day. We are printing out the photos for them to share with friends and family. Here is Daphne with her flowers.

S is for 'Snake'

S is for 'Snake'

We recently had a visit from Zoolab, an organisation that visits care homes, bringing with them rare and exotic animals. We got the chance to hold a giant African snail, a corn snake, a white rat and a Madagascan cockroach. The zoo keeper who bought all these amazing animals was very informative, so we learnt a lot about them too.

Live Entertainment

Live Entertainment

Singer, Dave Smiler, got his first big break at Emily Jackson back in 2017. His diary is now fully booked by care homes across the Kent area. He is a great performer and full of happy songs to get our feet tapping. Lots of the residents really got in the party mood and were dancing in their seats.
