Activities at Falmouth Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Last week a couple of our ladies decided they would like to go to Carnon Downs Garden Centre for an afternoon of clothes shopping. We strive to make every residents wishes come true here at Falmouth Court so we loaded up the minibus and along they went.

Everyone had a great time picking out some new items of bright clothing for the summer.

Some more plants were also purchased followed by a coffee and cake in the café afterwards.

A Trip to Trebah Garden

I am thrilled to share some sunny news from Falmouth Court Care Home! Yesterday, our wonderful residents embarked on a truly enchanting adventure in the minibus to the breathtaking Trebah Garden .

With laughter and anticipation in the air, our amazing team prepared for a day filled with natural beauty, tranquility, and cherished moments. We set off on our journey, leaving behind the cares of everyday life and immersing ourselves in the wonders of nature.

As we arrived at Trebah Gardens, a paradise nestled amidst Cornwall's stunning landscape, our residents' eyes lit up with joy. The vibrant colours of blooming flowers, the gentle rustling of leaves, and the scent of nature's perfumes surrounded us, creating a serene atmosphere.

Together, we strolled hand in hand along the winding paths, exploring the hidden treasures of this botanical wonderland. The residents delighted in the exquisite flowers and took in the panoramic views of the picturesque Helford River.

We paused to enjoy a delicious picnic lunch, sharing laughter and stories under the shade of ancient trees. The bonds of friendship and community grew stronger as we reveled in each other's company, cherishing these precious moments together.

As the day drew to a close, we returned to Falmouth Court Care Home with our hearts filled with gratitude and happiness. Our residents' smiles were brighter than ever, their spirits lifted by the therapeutic power of nature and the companionship we shared.

We are incredibly grateful to Trebah Gardens for hosting us and providing such a memorable experience. These outings remind us of the importance of fostering a sense of adventure, joy, and connection for our beloved residents.

Magic Table Fun

Did you know we have a 'Magic Table' in our dementia community here at Falmouth Court.

The Magic Table is an interactive light projector that was originally developed in the Netherlands. It's a specialist piece of technology designed to support residents living with dementia. It is proven to help staff promote stimulation through specialised games.

The colourful light projections respond to hand and arm movements, enabling residents to play with the light itself, increasing both movement and stimulation.
