Activities at Falmouth Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Celebrating Success

A huge well done to Sharon Pond one of our Community Leads here at Falmouth Court.

Sharon successfully completed her level 5 assistant practitioner in health and social care. We celebrated her graduation and continuing professional development successes.

Haley and Catalin our General Manager and Deputy Manager went along to watch Sharon Graduate in Truro. At Barchester, career progression is a vital part of the organisation and we actively look for colleagues to fulfil their potential.

Christmas Tree Light Switch On

We had a lovely afternoon switching on our Christmas Lights here at Falmouth Court. We had a special guest Jayne Kirkham for Truro and Falmouth come along to join us for the event and switch on the lights. Our residents had a lovely time chatting with Jayne and toasting the start of the Christmas Festivities with a glass of prosecco.

A huge thank you to William Highbourne Wealth Management who sponsored our beautiful tree this year.

A fun afternoon of games at Falmouth Court today.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Even if it's just a simple afternoon of board games. Our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Elvis Presley comes to Falmouth Court!

Our residents had a wonderful musical treat this week as they enjoyed the musical delights of Elvis from our guest singer "Tory". Every one was thrilled to be taken back in time and hear the wonderful tunes of yester year.

We very much look forward to the next visit from "Tory".

Remembrance Poppies

Over the weekend our residents came together in a crafty spirit to create poppies, paying tribute to Remembrance Day. An occasion deeply significant to many of our residents who personally experienced the impacts of war. The residents thoroughly enjoyed being able to express their creativity, while also cherishing the meaning behind them and reminiscing on the times of the past.

Karen from our activities team then loaded up our minibus and took them to Penryn Memorial Garden to lay their crafted poppies. Of course a trip to Falmouth Golf club on the way back for a hot drink was of course in order!

Piano Man!

We had a lovely visit from a musician with a difference this week at Falmouth Court. Kallan a local young man came to play the piano for our residents in our beautiful Garden lounge. Kallan is a very talented chap who is pretty much self taught and plays without using sheet music. Everything he plays is from ear and memory.

It was great to have a different style of music for our residents who were astonished by his abilities. We all very much enjoyed hearing him play.
