Activities at Falmouth Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Falmouth Court Care Home

Trip to Mylor Harbour

Another lovely trip out to Mylor Harbour for the residents of Falmouth Court.

Even though it was a lovely sunny day it was quite breezy so after a quick look at the boats everyone enjoyed a lovely coffee at Castaways.

Horse Therapy Day

There were too many wonderful pictures to try and choose from yesterday at Falmouth Court. Gail one of our carers treated everyone and brought her American miniature horses in to meet our residents.

Luckily the rain stopped just at the right time and the sun came out. This meant everyone could come out into our lovely courtyard to say hello and feed them some carrots.

It was the most special afternoon and a huge thank you to Gail and her family for taking time out of her day to provide this most wonderful life enriching activity.

Geoff one of our residents said it took him back 50 years! The occasion also brought back memories for Jill. When she was a young girl she used to go to her local stables and muck out the horses in exchange for a free ride.

To see such joy in our residents faces as they all spent time with the horses was a very special time for all.

Primary School Easter Card Competition

So this week Falmouth Court Joined with Falmouth Primary Academy for some intergenerational collaboration.

The students took part in an Easter card coloring competition coloring in some Barchester bunny cards to win a delicious Easter egg.

Our residents then looked through all the wonderful cards and chose a first, second and third prize. With all that took part getting a little bag or mini eggs too.

Our residents loved judging them all and were thankful that the young students took the time to give them this opportunity.

We look forward to lots more collaborating with the school in the future.

HSA Volunteer day

So yesterdays lucky break in the weather meant Hugh our Home Services Advisor was able to volunteer at The Rose Garden in Falmouth Cornwall UK. As a part of ‘The Big Spring Clean’, Hugh along with other volunteers from the community helped dig out the old rose bushes and plant a mix of red, white, and blue shrubs and plants ready for the jubilee celebrations this year.

At Falmouth Court we are always happy to help out and get involved with local community events

Hairdresser Day

It’s wonderful for our residents to have a fully equipped hair salon in the building. Our lovely Sarah comes in weekly to tend to everyone’s hair requirements.

She loves being a part of the week that our residents look forward to and greatly enjoy.

'Vera' visits Falmouth Court

One of our residents had a family member come visit today, ‘Vera’ the greyhound came to visit her grandmother. Vera was quite taken with our resident ornament greyhound standing guard at the front door.

We always encourage visitors to bring in their pets. Animals are always the best therapy!
