Activities at Flowerdown Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Flowerdown Care Home

Garden Centre story

We have a number of our residents who have a keen interest in gardening and we planned from a discussion following a residents meeting a trip out to a garden centre.

Fortunately it was a lovely sunny day so we got to enjoy going out in the mini bus, and looking at all the plants for sale we had a milkshake in the garden café to cool down as it was such a hot day!

Marcus singing Story

Marcus is a regular singer who comes to us a Flowerdown, he sings all kinds of a mix of songs, from the rat pack to football songs!

He always makes us smile and laugh as he likes to have lots of banter with us.

We choose Marcus as our singer as he likes to talk to us about all sorts of things which makes us laugh in between his songs.

As you can see from the picture below we always have lots of smiles when he is around!

Flowerdown Fun with Finkley Weeke Pre School

Here at Flowerdown, we know how important it is to develop intergenerational relationships between communities and residents. Our friends at Finkley Weeke Pre School and Nursery paid a visit to our residents where they delighted in storytelling, magic tricks and Oscar winning performances of song and dance. Lots of giggling and mischief was had and we wouldn't have it any other way!

Alapaca Madness

Flowerdown had the most wonderful guests for a visit this week allowing some chin tickles, lots of smiles and amusement along with some up-close encounters. It's not every day you get to meet an alpaca, so we certainly know how to make the day interesting here at Flowerdown. We recognise how important animals are to socialisation, communication and overall wellbeing. We think Caramac and pals get it too!

Making (Radio) Waves...

We had the great pleasure of welcoming Mary from Winchester Radio who came by to interview our Activities team about the brilliant volunteering that happens here at Flowerdown.
Volunteers help with a lot of the work that goes on behind the scenes, without them it would become much more difficult to carry out.
We are so proud of all the team here at Flowerdown, but a special thanks to all volunteers in all sectors!

Resident Ambassador marks anniversary

We celebrated our resident ambassador this week, having been at Flowerdown for 4 years, being an integral part of our amazing resident community.  We wanted to say thanks for the important role and gifted a beautiful bouquet of flowers and some delicious chocolates. Thank you to our wonderful resident ambassador!
