Activities at Fordmill Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Julia Constandache
I’m Julia and I have been working at Fordmill since December 2016. I really enjoy art and studied Graphic Design & Illustration in Dundee. I love being with people and using my skills to improve their quality of life and bring a smile to their faces through crafts, games and all sorts of other activities.
I plan out the activities, either for groups or individuals, according to specific needs and interests. It’s a real joy to get to know residents and their loved ones and I’m grateful to Barchester for giving me the opportunity to work with them and bring some sunshine into the residents’ lives.

Life at Fordmill Care Home
National Trust talk
Our homes had a fantastic time joining National Trust Talks Service team at Cliveden House for an inspirational talk on Nancy Astor – the first woman to take a seat in the House of Commons.
Our residents had the opportunity to learn more about the fascinating life of Nancy and her political career. As the first women MP, she experienced both attention and scandal throughout her life, which led to many triumphs and numerous disasters. The talk was truly enjoyed by all.
Celebrating carers week
Happy Carers Week! We would like to take this great opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful carers here at the home.
We are proud of each and every one of our care team for the outstanding care that they provide to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.

As part of the week, our carers received numerous donations and gifts from local organisations and businesses and lovely thank you cards from our community members, relatives and friends.
Floral decorations with Ferndown
Our homes had a lovely time joining Sue and Nicole from Ferndown Florist for an intriguing flower arrangement workshop in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Our residents enjoyed a wonderful virtual demonstration and got inspired to create their own flower posies for our Jubilee displays. Our home will be specially decorated for the upcoming festivities. Stay tuned.
Jubilee celebrations
Excitement has been running high at Fordmill Care Home in Montrose where residents and staff have been busy making Jubilee-themed decorations in preparation for the Jubilee.
Staff and residents at the home put their heads together and came up with a plan for their celebrations fit for a Queen. The whole home came together to celebrate our longest reigning monarch and reminisce about what she means to each and every one of us.
Over the bank holiday weekend residents, staff, friends and families celebrated the Queens Platinum Jubilee in style with a fabulous garden party. The weather was perfect and it was lovely to see life getting back to some form of normality. We were delighted to welcome family and friends as well as the local community who came to celebrate with us. Everyone tucked into an appetising array of cakes and snacks with plenty of tea, coffee, cold drinks and ice cream. The Noreen-Marie Geddes dancing school were amazing, captivating everyone with their talent while the Travelling Ukes entertained with much loved songs. One member of the community said we couldn’t have celebrated the Queens Jubilee any better than we did while another marvelled that even the children were catered for with toys and mini golf.
Star of Nimrod
We had a lovely time joining Graham Whitlock for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘The Crystal Palace Chronicles: Star of Nimrod’.
Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fictional character Joe, who went on a rollercoaster adventure travelling back in time to the heyday of Victorian Crystal Palace.
Everyone had lots of fun during the virtual talk, as Graham took them on a clever and hilarious adventure. A great time was had by all.
