Activities at Fordmill Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Julia Constandache
I’m Julia and I have been working at Fordmill since December 2016. I really enjoy art and studied Graphic Design & Illustration in Dundee. I love being with people and using my skills to improve their quality of life and bring a smile to their faces through crafts, games and all sorts of other activities.
I plan out the activities, either for groups or individuals, according to specific needs and interests. It’s a real joy to get to know residents and their loved ones and I’m grateful to Barchester for giving me the opportunity to work with them and bring some sunshine into the residents’ lives.

Life at Fordmill Care Home
Get Smart
Residents of Fordmill escaped the September drizzle with a fun-filled interactive afternoon with their new smart board. The ladies enjoyed a relaxing afternoon with their favourite tipple in the ‘Fordmill Arms’ and a good ol' chin wag, whilst the gentleman were brought together for their ‘Gentleman’s Club’, where they enjoyed games and sport.
Fordmill's Beautiful Garden
Residents of Fordmill love spending time in their beautiful garden, which was shortlisted for the 'Garden of the Year' category in this year's Barchester Care Awards. The residents like tasting some light refreshments whilst taking in the sensory features of the garden.
The garden has a variety of carefully chosen plants, relax zone, which stimulates the senses through sight, touch, scent and hearing. In addition, the outdoor space is equipped with multiple seats and wheelchair ramps for the comfort of the residents.
Our Divisional Winners
Well done to Argay Raiside and Julia Constandache, who were named as Divisional Winners in the 'Carer of the Year' category and 'Activities Coordinator of the Year' category, respectively, for the 2019 Barchester Care Awards.
We are also delighted to announce that we have been named as a Divisional Winner for Barchester in Bloom's 'Garden of the Year' competition.

We were visited by the Easter Bunny, who handed out eggs to residents and staff.
