Activities at Fordmill Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

I’m Julia and I have been working at Fordmill since December 2016. I really enjoy art and studied Graphic Design & Illustration in Dundee. I love being with people and using my skills to improve their quality of life and bring a smile to their faces through crafts, games and all sorts of other activities.

I plan out the activities, either for groups or individuals, according to specific needs and interests. It’s a real joy to get to know residents and their loved ones and I’m grateful to Barchester for giving me the opportunity to work with them and bring some sunshine into the residents’ lives.

A Virtual Train Journey

Residents enjoyed a virtual train journey with a 5 stars afternoon tea. All enjoyed the journey and look forward to more to come.

Happy New Year from Fordmill!

The residents had a lovely Hogmanay Party with lots of singing, drinks, nibbles and pizza. There was a lovely atmosphere and each one of them said they had a brilliant time.

A Virtual Visit to Lapland

Armchair travel to Lapland to visit Santa Clause village. The residents were taken on a virtual journey to Santa Clause Village in Finland. The journey was very much enjoyed buy all and they are looking forward to new Armchair Adventures.

A Visit from Annie!

Residents and staff enjoyed a visit from Annie the alpaca. She spent a lot of time with every single resident in the lounges and in their rooms. Animal visits always bring so much joy into our home.

Remembrance Day

Our residents have had a lovely time being creative, making poppies and jar candles to display in our home. Some of our residents also took part in the Community Parade, organised by The Royal British Legion Montrose, and laid down a poppy wreath at the Montrose Memorial.

100th Birthday Celebration!

Jean Burness Celebrated her 100th Birthday in style surrounded by her family and friends with special guests Provost of Angus Brian Boyd and Deputy Lieutenant Robina Addison. She was presented with a card from King Charles III.
