Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Fountains Care Home

Baking is good for the soul

Today the residents at Fountains took part in some baking.  We had two groups and we worked together to make two delicious sponges.

One sponge was Vanilla and one was Lemon and as we added the ingredients we reminisced about when we used to bake with family and what we used to bake ourselves.   The residents smiled as they mixed the ingredients together, especially as the flour was going everywhere

Celebrating 30 years of caring

Today the residents at Fountains helped to celebrate Barchester's 30th Anniversary and we had a fabulous time together.  Fountains is so proud to be part of the Barchester family and to help celebrate 30 years of caring.

We started the party with the wonderful Ian who came to sing for everyone and the residents were singing along and tapping their feet.   We then had a quiz about the year Barchester first started and followed this on by enjoying some delicious party food and cake.

Birthday celebrations

Here at Fountains, we know how important it is for families to be able to spend time together, and especially to be able to celebrate important events coming up in our residents lives. Today a wonderful family from Fountains spent time together in one of our dining suites to celebrate one of the residents birthdays.

Social time and floral arrangements

One of our lovely residents here at Fountains expressed how that they would like to have some beautiful flowers for their room.  So we decided to turn this into an activity, so the residents could create their own floral arrangements and spend time together while enjoying some coffee/tea and cake.

Once the beautiful flower arrangements were completed, the residents said they would like to give one of them to one of our new residents here at Fountains, how lovely!

We then went on to create some sweet gift bags, which we will be selling at our Christmas fayre on the 9th December.

Virtual trip to the Donkey Sanctuary

Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester.  Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care.  They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide.  The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Community spirit

Today Michelle and Darren went to Notcutts to collect a Christmas tree they have kindly donated for our residents. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful community around us and we know how important it is to be engaged and supportive of each other.

A massive thank you to Rebecca at #Notcutts for our tree and we cant wait to send you a photo of it all decorated.
