Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Fountains Care Home

Visiting the Local Pub

This Friday we went to our local pub with a couple of the residents, as was suggested by one or two of them. We took that time to reminisce and enjoy each other’s company. This was a lovely trip out and the residents had a wonderful time full of memories, good company, and smiles.

A Visit from Fudge

The residents had a special visitor to the home, it was a small dog named Fudge. Fudge was so excited to go round and meet everyone and the smiles she brought to everyone’s faces was worth more than money itself. One of the residents spent time giving Fudge a cuddle and then asked to give her some treats.

Pumpkin Picking

We recently went along to Woods Farm to take part in some pumpkin picking and to enjoy an autumnal outing!

It was a splendid trip full of smiles and fascination as we found many different coloured and strangely shaped pumpkins.

Along the way we met families who had taken their children to choose a pumpkin and we marvelled at the creativity of those carving them.

We even had time to pop into the Christmas shop to have a look at the festive displays, because its never to early to get in the festive spirit.

When we arrived back we had a chat about what we had seen and of course took time to enjoy a cup of tea and freshly baked Halloween cupcake.

Lucent Financial Planners

Fountains were delighted to welcome Kelly from Lucent Financial Planning yesterday for our monthly financial support clinics.

General Manager Arvinder said ‘’Here at Fountains we recognise that as a country we are facing a very difficult time within our economy at present, affecting all aspects of life including our finances. With that in mind, we are delighted to have teamed up Kelly, a SOLLA accredited chartered financial planner, who will be ready to help answer any burning questions you may have about financing later life care for you or a loved one.‘’

Home Services Advisor Darren said: ‘’As well as the opportunity to meet with Kelly, we’d be delighted to give you a guided tour of our beautiful home and the chance to meet with our General Manager Arvinder over a slice of our delicious home made treats and a hot drink.’’

Music Is Good For The Soul

Here at Fountains we know how important music is and how it can bring back so many happy memories.

Today we welcomed in Victoria who is part of the Dementia choir and she lifted our souls with song.

The residents all had song sheets and joined in with the many songs being sang. One resident commented “this has been absolutely marvellous”

We all enjoyed freshly baked cookies and drinks while we joined in singing many familiar songs and tunes.

Pumpkin Carving

One of today’s activities was to reminisce about our childhood and the pumpkin carving we did with our families.

We discussed where we used to get the pumpkins from, if we created any recipes with the pumpkins, and we laughed as we created the pumpkins faces.

One of the residents was fascinated by the texture and scent of the pumpkin as she scooped out the middle.

How amazing it was to be joined by one of the residents families and how this brought so much joy to our other residents.
