Activities at Fountains Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Fountains Care Home

WALK AND EXPLORING THE GARDENS AT FOUNTAINS CARE HOME
With the sun shining upon us, we took this opportunity go out into our gardens. Whilst exploring the outdoors, our residents began to identify the different signs of the changes coming up. With the sprouting of daffodils and blossom on the trees. We had cheeky birds coming to greet us as they investigated what was on our bird feeders/ tables. This is was fantastic yet simple activity for everyone to enjoy. Our residents, enjoyed the fresh air and light physical exercise as they went along the scenic pathways smelling our different herbs such as Rosemary & Lavender, this lead us to other conversations and encouraged others to reminisce about their gardens over the years.

ARMCHAIR TRAVEL TO AUSTRALIA FOR NATIONAL AUSTRALIA DAY
In celebration of National Australia Day, our residents had an exciting virtual adventure to the land of down under- without ever leaving the comfort of their armchairs! By creating an armchair experience, residents were able to explore the sights, sounds, and culture of Australia in a fun and fascinating way.
Our wonderful resident Martin, took on the role of hostess for the journey, guiding everyone to their seats before we began to view the stunning sights and landmarks like the Sydney Opera House, and the Great Barrier Reef. The whole experience was filled with laughter, learning, and gave our residents the opportunity to interact and share their own holiday destinations.

JANUARY OPEN DAY
What a incredible Open day we had at fountains, Our visitors and residents indulged in delectable canapes and fine wine, creating a lovely atmosphere.
The highlight was the beautiful music from our talented violinist Gail, who serenaded everyone and enhanced the joyful ambiance.

AN ALPACA VISITED FOUNTAINS CARE HOME
This was an amazing experience for everyone who came along. With Prancer the Poser (Alpaca) there was so many different emotions on the faces our residents, staff, family, & friends. Everyone could not wait to be close and have an opportunity to greet him. This was also a great chance for those who wished to ask Angela the farmer questions about where and how they lived. It’s never too late to learn more, gaining knowledge is a good for the mind.
Our adorable guest bought a sense of tranquillity, many enjoyed petting Prancer, feeling his fluffy fur coat, whilst others enjoyed having a photo opportunity.
The alpaca's visit was a fabulous example and reminder of how simple yet what a powerful connection between humans and animals, leaving all with cherished memories and a renewed sense of happiness.

TINY TOES CHILDREN COME AND VISIT US
A beautiful midweek surprise for us all as we had some of the children from Tiny Toes childminders come along and visit us.
Whilst the children were here, they were straight off exploring the activities which were available to them. Our residents faces light up, full of smiles as they watched them explore. Some of our residents interacted and engaged well with the children, laughing one said “I’ll need a sleep once they go”.
There were plenty of festive activities taking place such as arts & crafts, Mix and match, Christmas music for those who enjoy wiggling and tapping their feet. Before heading home, we couldn’t let them go empty handed. Hilda volunteered to be the happy helper giving each child a chocolate selection gift as they were leaving
