Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Fountains Care Home

Welcome To The Family

We are SO excited to be welcoming our brand new Activities Coordinator Michelle, to our Fountains family.

Excited to be joining us very soon, Michelle said:

‘’My name is Michelle, and I will be joining Fountains care home as the Activities Coordinator.

I am beyond excited to join this amazing team and to help bring smiles and life enriching opportunities to all the residents.

I am 40 years old, and I have worked in the care sector for nearly 25 years. I live in the Shirley area and have a supportive family who I am very close with, including my brother who has severe special needs and I help provide some of his care.

I am proud to say that my life has provided opportunities to learn compassion and empathy for others, but mostly I love nothing more than to make people smile and believe in positive outcomes.
To plan activities is something I get very excited about because I like to think about everyone's personal interests and hobbies’’

Common Wealth Celebrations

We recently invited residents & staff from Harper Fields Care Home - Barchester Healthcare Broadway Halls Care Home - Barchester Healthcare & Overslade House to join us for a common wealth celebration tea party - Fountains style!

With the Prosecco chilling on ice, the cake towers jam packed with delicious home made treats and songs to clap your hands and tap your feet to from the incredible Jess Harris - it was no wonder the room was filled with so much love & laughter.

Following a superb show from Jess, we were joined by the amazing Lisa who helped us work off all those scones with some gentle exercise in true common wealth spirit.

A big THANK YOU to all the homes who joined us today and to the fantastic team work by our Fountains family.

What an absolutely AMAZING day!

QIGong Comes To Fountains

Here at Fountains, our residents truly do have an input into the way Fountains is run - after all, this is their home, built and shaped around them.

We know that keeping active is important to those that live with us and we’re always looking for new and exciting ways to keep our residents involved, engaged and stimulated.

Qigong, pronounced “chi gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being.

In A World Where You Can Be Anything - Be Kind

General Manager Arvinder & Home Services Advisor Paul, have been out & about within the local community delivering ‘Random Acts Of Kindness’ to say thank you to the people of Solihull for all of their hard work.

First stop was to say hello to the team in the  Physiotherapy department at Solihull Hospital and Community Services NHS, then it was off to meet everyone at Marie Curie Hospice, Solihull West Midlands

Arvinder & Paul then stopped off to meet Saima at Aesthetics & Beauty Solihull, before dropping off some goodies for the team at Spire Parkway Hospital.

Lastly, it was a visit to Varrinder & the team at Bidvest Noonan with some thermal mugs as we’d heard just how much they love their tea.

Thank you to all of the amazing teams we met today for the warm welcome and for EVERYTHING you do to ensure our community continues to be a forward thinking place to live & work.

One Family

Fountains recently welcomed back ‘Mr Yummy’s Ice Cream Van’ as a cooling treat for our residents and team.

The famous whippy ice cream sparked many a conversation, reminiscing over childhood memories, favourite holidays and trips to the beach.

Our Home Manager Arvinder, was also on hand to keep Nazir hydrated during his visit with one of our chilled water bottles.
We’d also like to say a HUGE thank you to one of our incredibly thoughtful carers, Louise, who bought all the staff a milkshake during their shift to remind everyone to keep drinking during the heat.

We really are more than a team at Fountains, we’re a family!
