Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

National Robin Day

Fountains residents had great fun enjoying a variety of activities to celebrate National Robin Day.

Robin Day is a nationwide event raising awareness of small birds and how we can help them in the winter.

We started the day by stepping outside for a morning of bird watching. Our residents love spending time outdoors and had fun looking out for our feathered friends.

We then came indoors and made bird feeders using a variety of ingredients such as: breadcrumbs, pumpkin seeds, oats and fruit.

Our residents loved listening to the sounds of the Robins singing and chirping through a live webcam, they found it so relaxing.

To end a busy day we enjoyed relaxing with a Mindfulness Art Session whilst enjoying an episode of Countryfile with a cup of tea.

We certainly look forward to celebrating National Robin Day next year!

Annual Barchester Quiz

Fountains residents and staff had such fun this afternoon at the Annual Barchester Christmas Quiz.

We got our quiz team together and headed down to the cafe ready to begin. We were joined virtually with many of the Barchester homes from all of the regions.

It was a wonderful way to get together and celebrate another year of fun in our homes.

I am very pleased to say that we were the winners! With a fantastic 164 points!

Well done team ‘Snow It Alls’ and a big ‘Thank You’ to Barchester for organising a festive and funfilled afternoon.

Zoo Lab returns

Fountains residents were delighted to welcome back Dominique from Zoo Lab for a show and tell.

This time Dominique brought a new group of animals. They included; a Madagascan Hissing Cockroach, a Rose Hair Tarantula, a Corn Snake, a Domesticated Rat and a Bearded Dragon.

Once again our residents showed such courage and even enjoyed handling the different animals.  Everyone's favourite was the Bearded Dragon!

It was an extremely interesting afternoon for us all. Our residents loved learning about the different species and sharing their experiences too.

Thank you to Dominique and Zoo Lab for another fantastic afternoon.
