Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Community Engagement

Fountains are committed to supporting their local community and it feels good to be back out, meeting people and making a difference where we can.

Armed with goody bags our Home Services Advisor Lorraine Shannon has been out and about in the local area and we wanted to share just some of the things she has been doing on behalf of Fountains.

Supporting new business Pride Funeral Care - Shirley and enjoying a tour with fellow healthcare professionals Home Instead Solihull whilst learning about their very personalised funeral plans.

Attending a Round Table Session at Seeds of Hope with a range of local groups to discuss the gaps in Dementia Support in our community and what we can do to help.

Enjoying a talk by Rachel from Marie Curie Hospice with Solihull Pensioners Convention who, after many months not meeting due to covid, are now back face to face. We all learnt so much about the fantastic service offered by Marie Cure and how we can support with fundraising efforts.

Fountains residents had a wonderful time getting into the spooky spirit with a Pumpkin Painting Session.

" Back in time" talk presented by Dr Colin Harris

Fountains residents had a very interesting morning with a ‘Step Back in Time’ talk from our special guest Dr Colin Harris.

Dr Colin Harris is a retired professional educator who worked as a tutor for Open Studies and the University of Warwick. He is well known in the local area for delivering insightful talks on our rich and varied heritage and quirky customs.

These talks have seen him collect many items of antique memorabilia over the years and he volunteered to share these items and his knowledge of history with our residents.

He guided us through all of the different objects from a Welsh Love Spoon, an Antique Hair Crimper, a Police Truncheon (from Victorian days) and a Bosun’s Call Whistle.

It was a very insightful talk filled with so many wonderful anecdotes. Our residents were fascinated and enjoyed asking questions and sharing their stories too.

Thank you Dr Colin for such a fantastic morning of entertainment. We look forward to welcoming you back to Fountains soon.
