Activities at Four Hills Care Home

Our activity and lifestyle programme is arranged for all our residents to participate in and is updated regularly based on ideas from our residents group during our resident forum. Our Resident of the Day strategy ensures each person receives at least one day each month where the focus is all about them.

We have a monthly concert and to date this is appreciated and enjoyed by most residents. The Four Hills Taverns is open for business every Friday afternoon and is an area where residents and staff socialise, hold pub quizzes and partake in a little refreshment.

The team at Four Hills try hard to meet everyone's needs and encourage all residents and their families to join in the fun.

Life at Four Hills Care Home

Riding for the Disabled

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed a trip to our local Riding for the Disabled stables, we were introduced to all the horses and told what their routines were, we even had the opportunity to get them out and give them a groom.

All the residents found being around the horses to be very therapeutic and made them all happy, even the residents who were apprehensive to touch them at first were soon wanting to touch and groom them.

Mary had the best time ever as being around the horses and grooming them reminded her of her childhood pony trekking with her family and it’s how she meet her husband.

A trip to the Rose Garden

Another lovely outing for the residents of Four Hills this time to Tollcross park, where we enjoyed a lovely trip to their petting zoo, our favourite animals were the lamas and all the chickens.

But the point of our trip there was so Elizabeth could once again see their world famous Rose garden which she enjoyed going to regularly when visiting her family, she thought she would never manage over to see it again but here at Four Hills we like to make our residents wishes a reality for them.

Elizabeth was delighted with our day out even if not roses had flowered yet.

A Canal Boat trip with Seagull Trust

Residents at Four Hills enjoying a lovely canal boat trip down the Clyde from Kirkintilloch to Bishopbriggs thanks to our friends at the Seagull trust who run the tours.

We enjoyed a beautiful sunny day taking in the sights and the wildlife on the canal, we even saw a few canoeists along the way and enjoyed a lovely picnic as we sat out on the deck.

This was especially poignant for our Tommy who used to walk these canal paths every week when he was younger and fitter so he had lots to tell us about the history of the area and local landmarks.

Tommy and his family were delighted that he could take part in this trip and he has been talking about it for weeks since we have been back.

Historic Hendon

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.

Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.

The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.

Home celebrate 'Good' following recent inspection

The team at Four Hills Care Home celebrated in the sunshine this afternoon having received an overall 'GOOD' rating from the Care Inspectorate. The service was praised for delivering a caring, responsive, safe, effective and well led service.

In celebration of the rating and as a 'Thank you' to staff for their hard-work, each member of staff were presented with a £100 gift voucher.

Sponsored Walk

Residents and staff at Four Hills were delighted to join our local community to take part in a 2 mile sponsored walk in association with our local housing association.

There was 10 residents and staff who joined in on the day.

Erich a keen hillwalker was delighted to take part and was able to complete the whole walk without assistance.

After the walk we all joined the community at the local hub were we enjoyed a barbecue and some live entertainment from the band.

Residents have managed to raise around £400 in sponsor’s which will go towards some fabulous activities over the summer.
