Activities at Glebefields Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

A Home Full of LOVE

Valentine's Day, also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is celebrated annually on February 14. It originated as a Christian feast day honoring one or two early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine. Through later folk traditions, it has become a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world.

We celebrated Valentine's day with our residents and their loved ones at Glebefields. Weeks hard work came to an end, residents prepared lots of bunting, wreath, paper crafts, Valentine tree, cards and many more interesting valentine's things. It was so happy to see them enjoying the entertainment by Sparky and Sprite who sang classic love songs which were visited down the memory lane for our new resident Robert who thoroughly enjoyed the show.

We are privileged to have couples living with us, hence we took this opportunity to surprise them with valentine's special afternoon tea. Millie and John, Angela and Mick, spent special moments with her husbands whereas David and Christine had a special dine in their room. All of the residents were presented with red rose and a bag of heart shaped chocolates with a poem written by Kay our activities coordinator.

National Pizza Day

Staff and residents have been celebrating National Pizza day with great love and interest. We thought of celebrating the day by making the pizza we love with the choices of the toppings we relish. It was so much fun to watch them try making the Pizza by rolling them and even trying to swing in the air like pro which was delightful to watch. This gave them the taste of a different cuisine and also gave them the opportunity to be involved in making their own meal.

Most of our residents are pizza lovers and it was our residents and our Admin Assistant Dinesh who was Pizzaiolo (Pizza Chef). Dinesh demonstrated how to make pizza and residents followed him. All the residents were so happy to make their own pizza with the toppings they like the most. All the ingredients were donated by Papa Johns, Banbury. Residents loved the final outcome of their hard work and yes the pizza was very tasty and we all enjoyed it.

Bert, a resident at Glebefields said, “I really liked making the pizza for myself!! It was really a fun filled task from rolling the dough to choosing our own favourite toppings.”

Open Day at Glebefields

We'd like to send a big thank you to everyone who joined the Glebefields team on Saturday 21st at the Open Day. It was lovely to meet so many new people and have the opportunity to showcase our beautiful refurbished home.

After the guest tours, and with our favourite Jazz band playing in the dining room, we sat together to enjoy the entertainment over tea and homemade cakes.

Glebefields is tastefully decorated, making it as unique as its residents—it's a home that inspires pride in all and designed to enhance residents’ lives within.

We offer high quality residential, nursing and respite care in a warm and friendly environment.

If your considering later life care for a loved one, or have any unanswered questions, please call the dedicated team on 01295 642887 to book a show round or simply pop in for a coffee and informal chat with our home manager; Nisha at any time, there's always a warm welcome awaiting you!

Life of a Paramedic

On 18th Jan we went to Visit drayton village hall to attend a talk about the life of a paramedic with a cup of tea and cakes. We were so happy and pleased by the words of the people around us. Glebefields care home presented the hamper full of goodies for their raffle game.

Hamper was won by 96 year old Kath Stuart who is the Retired Church Warden Emeritus for Drayton. After speaking briefly to kath who was accompanied by her daughter told us that she was overwhelmed and said to thank everyone at Glebefields for their hard work and love for their residents.

Kath remembered the Glebefields home as a rectory and there was only electricity on the ground and first floor. The top floor was where the servants lived and often she could see flickering of Candles up high.

She was happy to talk about all this to us and felt amazed. We were also happy to know about our home history by an old lady who is 96 and still remembers our home.

Wonderful Wags from Winston!

Our residents love pets coming and visiting them and spending time with them. It's more interesting and fun when our own resident Millie's Dog (Winston) came for a visit. Winston met most of the residents and made them so happy.

Ivy, Tom, Raymond, Marlene, Minnie and Doreen enjoyed spending time with him. Ivy wanted to keep Winston with her.

Compliments and 5* Reviews

Our residents love helping us in doing our work. Yesterday when we were making our scrap book , Pam, Ivy, Marlene and Helen joined us in cutting pictures and pasting them in the scrap book. Ivy was so happy seeing the reviews our home has got on the carehome.co.uk website, Facebook and Glebefields website. She even added that all the reviews which are posted are very true and genuine. She also feels the same for the home. She loves staying with us and wishes our home grew more big. Her words made us feel so proud and we are happy that residents love us and our home a lot.
