Activities at Glebefields Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Decorating for Christmas

Residents and staff have been busy baking sensational scones, buttery biscoff cakes & delicious chocolate brownies. The smell around the dining room was delicious. Residents also made homemade candles all from natural products made with love. Varied fragrances and colours - Jasmine, Gingerbread, Lavender and more. They also created lots of home-made bunting/garlands/wreaths/paper chains to make the home as festive as can be. Residents just loved to make their own wreath for their doors with wonderful ideas. The residents have also been crafting home-made decorations for the Christmas tree which they all helped to decorate, the tree is looking truly magnificent covered in beautiful Christmas lights, bows and residents homemade decorated baubles.

Christmas Fayre

‘TIS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY AT GLEBEFIELDS... We'd like to thank everyone for making our Christmas Fayre so very special!

Held on Saturday 3rd December our fayre was full of artisan foods and unique hand crafted gifts from cakes to cushions, candles and jewellery. The home was full of Christmas cheer as guests meandered around the stalls enjoying complimentary homemade mulled wine and mince pies courtesy of Head Chef, Bose and the hospitality team.

General Manager, Nisha Shaji said: “Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year and our fantastic residents love to get festive so we’ve pulled out all the stops for this years’ ‘Countdown to Christmas’ starting with a super Christmas Fayre. It is so lovely to see them mixing once again with the local community and everyone getting into the Christmas spirit, it’s definitely my favourite time of year.”

Jean Walker, resident at Glebefields said: “It has been a lovely day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get into the Christmas spirit. I really enjoyed meeting so many new people and wondering the various stalls with my family and grandchildren.”

National Elf Day

Last Friday 2nd December our staff swapped their uniforms for costumes on National Elf Day in an effort to raise funds to help people living with dementia.

Launched by the Alzheimer’s Society and delivered direct from the North Pole, Elf Day was created to sprinkle some festive cheer on fundraising towards finding a cure for dementia.

From stripy socks to head-to-toe elf outfits, these naughty little Glebefields elves were up to mischief all day... there’s snow better way to raise money to help beat dementia!
